Host completely ignored all correspondence after checkin
The apartment itself is quite nice, large & clean. It is on the ground floor & lots of noise of people coming & going all night makes it hard to sleep (plus the bedding was paper thin & didn’t fit the beds). The concierge is supposed to be open 24/7, but would frequently lock the front door & leave the desk for extended periods, which meant we could not leave or enter the building. This was REALLY frustrating.
The hot tub was broken, and it’s worth noting that you are not allowed food or drink anywhere near the pools.
Checkin details were not provided & when requested, only the cross streets & keybox code were given. I had to follow up & request the building name & apartment we were to stay in.
The room was not ready on time. We asked for a spare key, & the host said the cleaner should have left one. She didn’t & despite numerous messages from both myself & VRBO team about issues we were having, we never heard from the host again.
We locked each other into the apartment all the time, as the door won’t close unless locked and stored the only key in the lockbox. Despite being super inconvenient, this felt incredibly insecure, as the keybox code is the same as the suite number. There is no safe in the apartment, so it would have been really easy for someone to break in. If we’d had 2 keys we would have felt more secure.
We never received checkout info.
Overall, the place was fine, but didn’t feel secure & getting locked out of the building at 2 am was really sketchy.
