Country setting 2-3 miles from the River, Luther College and downtown Decorah

The Garden View Suite offers 2000 square feet; an open floor plan for kitchen, living and dining; 3 very comfortable bedrooms; a tiled bathroom split into two rooms with the toilet and sink in one room and a deep soaking tub and sink in the other; free Wi-Fi and Satellite TV; a large patio with a charcoal barbeque grill (supply your own charcoal), portable fire pit (supply your own fire wood), and patio furniture overlooking the herb gardens. You will enjoy lots of natural light during the day and peaceful nights to for rest and renewal. This is an upstairs/downstairs duplex. We the owners live in the upstairs part of the duplex and are available if needed but give you total privacy otherwise.

We are located in a lovely rural setting while still being only 5 minutes from Luther College and downtown Decorah. The accommodations are private, spacious, and very convenient to restaurants, activities, and sites. Ample parking is available. There are walking trails on the property and space for campfires.

Decorah is a thriving community with a wonderful mix of cultural opportunities including theatre, art galleries, biking / walking trails, parks, restaurants, organic foods, seasonal farmers market, education, and outdoor recreation including trout streams, canoeing, tubing, kayaking and fishing the Upper Iowa River.

Overall a fine place to stay, although a bit more cluttered inside than the last visit. The main issue we had was the same as last time - they did not pick up after their dog, which markedly lowered the enjoyment of the yard.

Property had little to no parking. Tenants lived upstairs and were a little nosy. Watering their plants while we were on downstairs patio. Directions were not well explained. No control over AC or heat. Cluttered living area furniture and outdoor was wet not enough resources to start fire.

Beautiful view

We were in town for a family gathering and while we didn’t spend much time there, it was a beautiful setting to come home to at night. Appreciated that we could have our dog along with us. The hostess was very prompt with responses. While we didn’t cook while we were there, the kitchen seemed well appointed.

We enjoyed our stay. Access for our Mother was a bit difficult. The extra fees seemed excessive and added the equivalent of an extra day cost to our 2 night stay.

Private, quiet, serene

Property is large with gorgeous views. Barbara and David are very pleasant, were reapectful of our time, and it felt private even though they were just upstairs. Sammy, their vizsla, is also super sweet. The place was homey and comfortable. We VERY much appreciated bringing our canine family members and they loved all the room to run. Location a short drive to downtown. Definitely would stay again if they would have us.

Quiet respite in beautiful country setting

Stayed 3 nights, closer to end of color season. Beautiful views, beautiful bluffs overlooking Upoer Iowa River. Barbara and David were wonderful hosts. Only negative was not letting us know that HVAC system broke in the week or two before our stay.Fortunately, nights were cool, and days not so warm that fan and outside breezes could not keep us comfortable. I highly recommend this place for a quiet getaway from city life, with plenty of walking or hiking or other activities as desired.

So nice we have stayed twice!

Love everything about this place, even after our second time there. Great location and close to fishing, hiking, biking, breweries, wonderful food and more. Our dog loved it too. Can’t wait for our third stay.

An amazing surprise

Our annual sisters getaway…..we had not stayed here before and there is always apprehension with a new place. First off the communication was great. Barbara responded quickly every time I reached out. The living area is wide open with large windows on two sides. The view is simply rolling green hills as far as the eye can see. Just beautiful. The kitchen was well stocked and we were able to make meals for the entire week with no problems. Our individual bedrooms were comfortable. My only hurdle was the high sided soaking tub. I have bad knees and it was a challenge but after a little negotiating everything worked. Honestly we would have liked a shower curtain for the tub as water did tend to splash. But the water was always hot with good pressure. The location is pretty country but also being close enough to town for shopping. We did a little exploring in the area as well. We really did enjoy our stay and we’re thinking this will be next years location as well!!!. Barbara and Dave are great hosts. They live upstairs but you would t know it. Great place!

Beautiful Iowa

This couldn’t been a more perfect place for my visit to see my son his wife and my new grandchild! Property was spectacular, and I enjoyed getting away from the hustle and bustle of Washington DC! I hope to be back for future visits. The property was stunning, quiet, and the view on the Bluff.was peaceful! Barbara and David were responsive, gracious, and wonderful hosts!
