We had a most enjoyable first stay at South Sands having had to change our plans at short notice due to an injury which meant that my husband was unable to fly. As we arrived to check-in Jonathan the food and beverages manager gave us the warmest of welcomes, he presides over an excellent team. The menu was extensive and varied using the delicious fresh local fish and seafood to its full advantage, the lobster bisque amongst other dishes is to be highly recommended.
The beach view room was well appointed, fresh milk to make hot beverages along with local biscuits and complimentary water was a lovely touch.
We were a little surprised when we requested a second cappuccino at breakfast to be told that this incurs an extra charge after discussion with the general manager it was explained this is during the summer season. Having never encountered such a policy in many other hotels both in the UK and overseas we felt it was perhaps a short sighted policy from the point of view of guest satisfaction when so much else at the hotel is to be commended including the very friendly staff.
