No respetan el cupo

Llegamos en la noche y nos dijeron que ya no tenían espacio en el edificio del hotel, así que nos mandaron a un edificio de enfrente que estaba en construcción, sin letreros y sin gente. Al final salió bien pues solo nos quedamos una noche para descansar pero no fue la mejor experiencia

24 hour stay at Machu Picchu

Hey you get what you pay for. We knew that we would only need this room for approximately 5 hours, as we arrived late on the train and would be getting back up at 3:45am to catch the bus to Machu Picchu. They were very accommodating and let us leave a majority of our belongings with them. The beds were actually quite comfortable as was the room. We did get the since though that even though Agus Callientes is a small town, (Uphills both ways) this Hostal maybe wasnt in the most safest place, but we were fine.

Did not have rooms we reserved

Our family of four was traveling together and we had made reservations to two rooms at the hotel. When we arrived we were informed that there was only one room available. After some discussion with the staff who were unwilling to honor our reservation they said two of our family members could stay two blocks away at their other property. This created some complications because we had packed and made travel arrangements to be in the same properties throughout our trip.

2 night twin room

Twin room is ok, quite spacious, although i dont find it very important since i wasnt in the room except for sleeping and shower. Breakfast basic, served in 4:30. After second night i wanted breakfast in 6:00, got it in 7:15 since everybody was sleeping. After they serve breakfast in 4:30, they assume the hotel is empty. Neighbourhood could be better. But in aguas calientes, i assume everywhere is similar. You come here just for MP and they know it

There was no one at the reception area at our arrival. I just walked across the dark dining area towards the kitchen and yelled for help. I'm fluent in Spanish so I guess that helps. I think this place is run by a mother and her daughters. Machu Picchu pueblo business owners pretty much figure tourists are not coming back anytime soon; so, they're not worried about repeat business. Hotel pros: beds were comfy, water was hot with plenty of water pressure, hair blow dryer was available and cable tv. We never felt like we were in danger. Hotel cons: the owner had a child that just cried and cried. My BF couldn't take it anymore and went downstairs to complain about it. Also, you can hear the train but to be fair I think you can hear the train in all parts of the town Wifi was ok too. Breakfast is offered but not sure what. We only had coffee, juice, toast and yogurt. We needed to catch the bus to Machu Picchu site ($24 r/t per person). Also, it's not far from the train station. Once you exit the train station keep to the first right alley of the market then take another right along the rail line. Yes, apparently all who exit the train station need to go thru all the vendors.

Very convenient to train and bus stations as well

Very friendly, accommodating staff. This is a hostel, so an unpretentious experience was anticipated. We found the accommodations to be quite spacious, clean and with a recently renovated bathroom.

Good location, wifi, hot water, & breakfast

Good wifi. Good hot water in shower. Good breakfast. Allowed me to store my luggage for the day. Only a short walk from the train station, market, and many restaurants. Very pleased overall.

Confortable Hostel in Aguas Calientes

We stayed here for 3 days / 2 nights during our visit to Machu Picchu. Due to changes in our travel plans we changed the room from tripple to double. The location is very convenient, close to both the train station, local market and the bus station to Machu Picchu. The hostel host was a very friendly lady, supplied us with excellent breakfasts, and made our stay very comfortable. We recommend this hostel for those who wish to stay in Aguas Calientes on a reasonable budget.

Avoid at all costs

While the pictures and description looked fine when we booked here, the place turned out to be very run down and offered poor service. We were so excited about doing Machu Picchu but our stay here really put a damper on the trip. Where to begin - massive construction noise at 5:30 am, dark non-lit corridors and stairwells, damp rooms, Tang orange juice and day old bread for breakfast and non-existent or sleeping staff that seemed to be irritated whenever we were around. We had booked our room with the understanding that we could pay by Visa but when it came time to pay, they refused to take our Visa card and demanded cash so we had to empty our pockets and pay in a mish-mash of currencies - imagine if we had not had the cash on us! At $ 90 US a night, this is beyond a rip-off and should not be represented on Hotel.com. We use Hotel.com often and are always pleased however not this time.

Staff very rude and unwelcoming!

I'm staying at this hotel as most people and we do to go out to Machu Picchu. The staff are very unwelcoming. I stay tonight's and that the room was untouched after I've been out today. The towel wasn't changed and the bed wasn't made up! Probably the worst hotel I've stayed in during my visit to Peru.

Arrival into Aguas was unpredicted

tour operator in Cuzco was to have a guide meet me at the train and take me to the hostel....however, not only did he not make it but he didn't get to my room until I was nearly asleep hours later! One of the women working at the hotel walked me to my room, but I didn't know who she was! The place was noisy with sounds coming from surrounding places due to open air design, part right adjacent to my room. My room was large with 3 single beds and a decent bathroom that had hot water. Every 45 minutes I went down the 3 flights of stairs (no elevator so toting heavy luggage up and down is not easy) to ask (no one spoke any English) about the guide. At one point I gave then the phone number for the handler in Cuzco. They seemed to talk, but reply was of no help and the gal kept saying, another 30 minutes. After the guide eventually came, and I was again in bed, the gal knocked telling me breakfast at 4:30. I asked for knock on the door at 4 so I could be ready. I never got the knock, the older lady was not happy when I came down with my bags to store at 4:20 pantomiming that she was not ready with breakfast until 4:30 to which I didn't care because I had told the younger one previous night I would take it with me, I only wanted coffee. Leaving my bags while I went up to Machu Pichu is nothing out of the normal. Giving food to those up for the bus at 4:30 is not unusual. It was neither great or poor, but the attitudes were not friendly or welcoming.

Nice hotel when visiting Machu Picchu

Checked in at 10:30 pm Rooms were clean. Staff is great, when they learned we were leaving at 4:30 am they offered to have ready breakfast packs for our group. They also stored our large bags and for 10 soles per person allowed us to get a shower before hitting the train

Perfect little hostal

I am glad I stayed here, it is a small hostal run by a mom and her daughters. Out room was nice and cozy just what we needed. The wifi and hot water worked perfectly. Do not expect excellent customer service from the daughters since they are young however when I asked for help they were there to help me out. Breakfast was coffee, juice, bred with cheese, jelly and butter and a banana, she would ask you if you wanted eggs as well. We woke up super early the day we went to Machu Picchu around 4am, and went downstairs for breakfast. I saw that someone said it was far from the train station coming from ollaytamyambo, not true. You just go up walk through the market make a right and a left ok chashka tika st. Very close. Our check out was smooth. I'm glad I stayed here I would definitely come back:)

Nice little hotel

I liked hospitable staff, normal size room, price, possibility of very early breakfast (from 4.30). Somebody may be displeased that late breacfast after 8.30 is impossible. Very close to train station.
