The space
Reaching this gorgeous mountain property is like ascending to a new world. As you drive up the increasingly narrow and winding paved road, everyday cares fall away. Soak in the views from the wraparound main deck, soothe tired muscles in the hot tub and steam shower, and catch some rays in a lounge chair. Or fire up the grill for an al fresco meal as the sun sets over the mountains.

The multi-level house makes a carefully crafted design statement, with a stunning metal exterior and a light-filled interior. Features include exposed concrete walls, quartz countertops, intricate tilework, and accents such as original canvas photos from local artists and side tables made from vintage US Army equipment cases.

This home sets up and is decorated great! I would not recommend it for kids under the age of 7 years old, especially boys! There is not area for them to get out and play without an adult next to them at all times, drop offs all around the home. Unfortunately there was a heat wave while we were there, the house only has air conditioning upstairs. The downstairs 3 bedrooms did have fans, but rooms were reading 78 degrees( per baby monitor) at 8pm. Missing a few kitchen items, pizza cutter and a serrated knife for farmer market breads would have been useful. Large skillet needs replacing, even using oils everything stuck to it. It was nice having a large selection of spices, plastic cups, qt bags, foil and plenty of kitchen garbage bags. Again, a great home for adults and older children. The kids did enjoy the hot tub and watching the Durango to Silverton train going by a couple of times a day.

Best VRBO Ever

My wife and I took our 2 children and their spouses, our mothers and my grandmother from Arkansas to Durango. I looked for a house with enough beds, bathrooms, seating, and views. This place had that and much more! The views were amazing, the house was so beautiful, and stocked with just about anything that you could need. Our shower even turned into a sauna! We have stayed at many VRBO’s and this place by far was the best I’ve ever seen! My only advice to someone thinking of staying here is be prepared to dive up a very narrow steep road to access the property. 4x4 would be a must in snow season! Thank you to the owners for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home!

Memories made for our family. An amazing home. Basecamp is the right name, we traveled to Durango and skied purgatory. Five stars. Everything was perfect. Thank you!!!!! So many memories.

Awesome

The first time driving up to the house was kind of scary, but after that it was fine. Great views, modern house. We didn't get in the hot tub because the 1st night a young bear came walking by the deck and everyone was afraid it would come back with mom! It was fun to see!

Wonderful property with beautiful views!

Everything about our stay was fantastic!. The instructions and communication prior to arrival were complete and clear. The property was very clean, stocked with basic necessities and the location was perfect for our event. The home is beautifully set up for larger groups. Very clean and modern and very comfortable. However the views deserve 10 stars!! Much better than described with floor to ceiling windows to take in the full beauty of Durango/Hermosa. Trace was wonderful and very accommodating. We will definitely be back.
