Home Across from Purg - Hot Tub/Pool Table and Great Views - Shuttle

Our 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath, 3,000 square foot home is in one of Purgatory’s newest and most sought after neighborhoods is located just across highway 550 from Purgatory Resort and is 24 miles north of downtown Durango (less then a 30 minute drive).

Enjoy the convenience of being at the ski resort, yet the privacy and additional space of a house with a garage (one space available). The resort is both an amazing winter playground, and offers a wealth of all your favorite mountain activities in a cool and comfortable summer climate at 8,900 feet. For ease, there is a free on-demand shuttle to the ski resort in both winter and summer.

The home is adjacent to over a million acres of national forest land and backs one of the finest hiking trails in the area. Unlimited adventures await in the incomparable San Juan National Forest with walking access to three watersheds with abundant trout and extraordinary vistas of the Needles Mountains. The home is located near the Purgatory Flats trail head, one of the finest and most scenic hikes in the area as well as a pond for fishing, paddle boarding and a playground and in winter, there is a cross-country ski trail right out the front door.

The house features an amazing backyard with a hot tub, BBQ Grill, Gas Fire Pit, plenty of seating and awesome views of Engineer Mountain. This residence is finished with hardwoods, slate, stone, and granite surfaces, all of the mountain-modern high-end finishes you’d expect t the ski resort. The 4th bedroom also serves as the game room with a pool table and TV.

Bed Configuration:
Main Bedroom - King Bed with TV and Ensuite Bath (Main Floor)
2nd Master Bedroom - King with TV (2nd Floor)
3rd Bedroom - Queen with TV (2nd Floor)
4th Bedroom - 2 sets of Bunk Beds (single over Queen) (2nd Floor)

Book 7+ nights and a 10% discount is automatically applied. 4WD is NOT required in the winter (Excludes Christmas/New Years).

The home is not pet friendly - please do not bring your pets.

For an optional 4% resort fee, you will have access to the Durango Mountain Club which includes an outdoor heated pool with slide, outdoor hot tub and workout facility. The 4% resort fee included in the quote is the required resort fee that must be charged and does not allow access to the Durango Mountain Club.

Stay with us and we offer DISCOUNTS on both summer (white water rafting, horseback riding, etc) and winter (ski/snowboard rentals, sleigh rides, snowmobile tours, etc) activities.

Please note that, like most properties in the area, this home does not have AC, as it is uncommon for homes at this elevation. Temperatures inside the property are easily managed by using fans and opening the windows at night when temperatures drop into the 40s.

Wonderful Stay - So close to Purgatory!

The home was very well kept and suitable for our two families (9 people) staying there. We enjoyed the ample space, number of bed options, hot tub, kitchen with all utensils you could ever need, plenty of seating areas, spacious garage for ski gear, ease of communication with the owner, and how nice and convenient the home was to Purgatory! Would certainly rent this home again!

Great getaway!

Had a wonderful time at this beautiful mountain home. Perfect for a family get together. The house had everything we needed, was very well stocked, and such a great location.

Family Mountain Vacation

This mountain home accommodated our family of 9 very comfortably. We loved the patio, the view to the mountains is stunning and the hot tub was welcome after a day of hiking or fly fishing. We cooked nightly - the kitchen was well equipped with cookware and utensils. Mid-week the property management emailed to ask if there was anything we needed to make our stay more comfortable. I mentioned that a large pot for cooking pasta would be helpful for the next guests, and the next day they had one delivered to the house. We appreciated the attentive management team! We paid the additional fee for the use of the Durango Mountain Club pool and fitness center, located directly across the highway. Looking back, I wish we had not. There are so many other activities to enjoy: fly fishing, hiking, the nearby mineral baths at Durango Hot Springs Resort and Spa, river rafting, the towns of Durango and Silverton. If we ever go back to the Durango area we would look to rent this house again.

All that glitters

When we found this property on VRBO we were beyond excited to book it. Upon arrival the back porch and all of the furniture was knee deep in snow, the television remotes didn’t work, the fireplaces didn’t work, the cookware was worn out, the coffee pot leaked all over the counters when in use, the jetted tub in the master did not work, the dishes were dirty and had to be hand washed as the dishwasher is on its last leg as is the dryer. On the positive side the property management company was super responsive and immediately addressed what issues were feasible and the view at this property is absolutely breaktaking as well as super accessible to Purgatory.

Spectacular views!

We had an amazing stay and could not have felt more at home. The house was clean and had everything we needed. Communication with the property manager was easy and fast. The views from the back porch make this house truly special. Just a short walk to Twilight Lake for paddle boarding, fishing or kayaking and a close walk to the Purgatory trailhead. Our family had an absolute blast and would 100% stay in this home again. Highly recommend. You won’t want to leave that back porch!!

Great house! Will stay again.

The house was nice with a wonderful location. The front of the house is a bit crammed in the neighborhood but the back is wide open to the National Park and has a wonderful view. It’s likely the best view on the street. I give it 4 stars only because the house next door (which is extremely close) was under construction and there is no warning of this and no price reduction for the noise level. It wasn’t terrible but it definitely interrupted the peaceful feel during the day, especially needing the windows open during the day and sitting on the patio. This should really be disclosed. Otherwise we loved our stay and would come again.

Such nice views!

This is such a great spot to take advantage of the best that Colorado summer has to offer. The view from the back patio of national forest and Engineer mountain was wonderful. Our family walked to Bucks for a great horseback ride, back and forth to the lake for fishing and kayaking, enjoyed the small playground, and took a good hike at the trailhead nearby. The property next door is under construction. A temporary challenge and just part of a growing area but something nice to know ahead of time as you’ll spend the night with the windows open for AC. Otherwise, a great visit!

Simply Amazing!!!

Everything was perfect! From the moment we arrived until we locked up to leave we didn’t have a single issue with the rental. The home is amazingly beautiful and had plenty of space for our family of 10. It was conveniently located to both Durango and Silverton but far enough away to feel secluded. We would definitely have stayed longer if we could have made it happen!!!

Three Generations in Durango

Very nice and exceptionally well equipped property. Owner very responsive to our every need. Stairs to bedrooms were a bit of a challenge for the “old folks” and no bathroom for upper floor bedroom. We would have liked an awning on the main deck;; it was so hot to sit there for any length of time. Altogether a very favorable impression in a beautifully secluded setting.

Great summer mountain getaway

Beautiful, cozy home with hot tub right across from Purgatory Resort and up against national forest. Kayaking, horseback riding and other mountain activities super close by. A gorgeous place for a mother daughter getaway!

Very nice. Couldn't find any spare stock of TP and paper towels. Short on closet hangers, but property management was responsive. Beautiful home. I would visit again.
