Disappointed
Unfortunately, our stay didn’t meet expectations. The host had the reservation dates mixed up, so the house wasn’t ready by the scheduled check in time. We weren’t able to check in until 4.5 hours after our scheduled time (6:45pm), which really threw off the start of our trip. We started searching for a hotel, not knowing if we had a place to stay. The host did offer his other property to us for one night only, but it was 20 minutes away from the original rental and we really didn’t want to have to go back and forth. Once inside, we noticed several issues. The front door lock was difficult to use and clearly needs maintenance. The side of the property was very dark at night with little lighting, not ideal for safety. The bathroom (specifically the shower/tub) is in serious need of updates. Beds were extremely uncomfortable. Just a basic spring mattress placed directly on a frame, which made it hard to sleep well. This is a house which the host has made into a duplex. The walls are thin and you can hear his tenants talking and walking around. As part of the check out procedure, we were asked to wheel the trash can to the curb. It was completely full when we checked in and seemed like an excessive amount garbage in the bin for a property that has frequent guest. Overall, the property needs some maintenance and communication from the host. We asked for a small refund due to the complacency with our booking and we were met with silence. We wouldn’t stay here again.
