"The apartment was very clean and had everything we needed. The host was great, sent check in information promptly. We just couldnt get the fireplace to work. It would be great to have a binder with directions for clean up, fireplace, wi-fi, and things nearby with a map. Service is very spotty when out exploring. Plan accordingly! "

The house is filled with notable and interesting antiques and collectibles that add charm and interest everywhere you look. We fully appreciated that the community is gated. "First and foremost, the condo was clean and the beds were quite comfortable. I loved that it had a little balcony to enjoy my coffee in the morning and to view stars at night. It is in a beautiful setting and only 4 miles from Davis, where you can find places to eat. The location is ideal for visiting many natural areas and Blackwater State Park. It was very quiet the week we were there in early October too."

"Property was maintained beautifully. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Very clean and orderly house. House flies kept appearing, however. Lots of books and games to entertain you. Fully equipped kitchen is a plus. Easy access to Thomas and Davis by car, or Thomas by foot path.The furnace fan motor was so loud the floor vibrated. Eventually noise disappeared. Internet router lost connectivity daily. I texted owner; no reply. Router looks old. Hauling out trash at end of stay was not...

"Jim was an amazing host! We had a wonderful 5 day stay in a beautiful home that’s packed with so many extras. The location is great if you’re looking for a nice quiet getaway. Beds were more comfortable then our own and the kitchen was top of the line! The fireplace and hot tub were so relaxing. We will definitely be staying there again for sure. "

"Amazing place, beautiful views, the entire place was well stocked, comfortable beds, incredibly cozy. Can't wait to stay here again! The owners went above and beyond during my stay, including shoveling walkways and snowblowing the driveway after it unexpectedly snowed. If you're considering somewhere to stay around Blackwater Falls, book this place and don't look back!"

"Property was spectacular, the view was impressive. Everything you need in a home away from home, the area is filled with nature! Many hikes and exploring then back to the house to relax and take in the awesome view. Short ride to Blackwater Falls and Canaan Valley state parks. Very comfortable accommodations, we travel with our pups at least 2-3 times a year somewhere different and always stay at a VRBO home, this home was o e of the very best!"

"We’ve been coming to Davis for a long time but this was our first time staying in Black Bear. The Bear Lair was perfect for our stay. Clean, well decorated, well equipped kitchen, very comfortable beds, and plenty of firewood. The central location was great as we bounced between Dolly Sods, Timberline, White Grass and downtown Davis. Abby was super responsive and accommodating. We definitely plan to return. "
