"The lobby of the hotel had the weirdest smell. After day 2 of a four day trip. I realized it was cats. They have one kept behind the counter and it smell bad BUT the rooms are clean and does not smell like cats at all. So unless you plan on hanging out in the lobby no problem. Good location. This time we were in an adjoining room on the inner courtyard, the people above us were very loud and noisy all night (no fault of the Inn). Then the rude people in the adjacent room must've left early and left some sort of alarm going off for 2 hours early in the morning and kept us up, but shout out to the staff, I called to report it and they came quickly to...

"It’s become our tradition to stay at Melrose Mansion when we visit New Orleans. This was our 4th stay but the first time in six years. It has maintained its status as a wonderful destination with an incredible staff. We traveled with our 4 year old and the room size was perfect. Can’t wait to be back! "

"Very helpful and attentive staff..quiet area, but internal noise was an issue. Loud guests and the stairs ahould be carpeted for noise reduction. Bring ear plugs! No elevator, nice spacious comfy rooms. Was close to all the action and shops and restaurants. "
