Cockroaches greeted on the first day in kitchen area but seemed to disappear afterwards. Refrigerator needed defrosting. Crack between sink and fridge needed cleaning. Bathroom tiles have some mildew. Leaking sink. Issues reported and were addressed. Also, don’t recommend rooms directly under the reception area. "Restaurant and café were also very good and a voucher towards the purchase was generous. The only thing was that the room was set to 65-68f and not changeable (thermostat control does not work). Even when I turned off the fan, I could feel cold air coming in. So it's perfect for people who like the room to be cool. But for me, it was VERY cold."

"Staying at First Cabin was something different!
Let’s start by its evidently amazing location. You’re right by the plaza, just across the street from the Royal Hawaiian. Countless restaurants, coffee shops, and stores. a short 7 min walk from the beach.
My first impression as I walked into First Cabin smelled rather interesting. The place felt musty and somehow humid. I was kindly greeted by the girl in the front desk, but none of them looked up at me the remaining of the week.

"I liked that it was on the beach and the food was amazing at the Tropics bar and grill. When I booked our stay I was told if we attended a welcome meeting for an hour we would get $300 in resort credit. This wind up being an aggressive attempt to sell us timeshare. My husband was having a medical emergency and I told the sales rep we had to go, but she kept insisting we take a plan first. I will not stay here again!."

"The room was amazing with great views of Diamond Head and a glimpse of the ocean. Staff did a great job and were very attentive, with free beach chairs and towels being a HUGE plus. The park across the street was also very nice for early morning walks. Only negatives would be that the beach access was not quite what we were expecting (limited and not super clean feeling) and the cost for parking was much higher than necessary. Be sure to factor the parking costs and resort fees into your choice...

"If you want to be nickled and dimed for everything, this is the place for you. $65 resort fee (for what? Maybe for all the construction they had going on throughout the property), $80 per day valet if you want to park a car, multiple taxes on the room. Not to mention, the buffet for dinner is $90 per person lol what a laughable joke. The only great part about this property is Lisa who normally works the morning breakfast buffet. She was incredible and made the $50 per person breakfast worth it."

Expedia messed up our prepaid rooms so we had to pay at the desk and now have to dispute the charges with expedia. Totally unacceptable. Even showing expedia confirmation and Amex debit the hotel nanager still debited my amex card again. How can you be satisfied paying double for such a poor room conditions???"
