"Very basic small room. It was very hot and the a/c did not appear to be working. Also you could hear voices from adjoining room. £7 to park overnight. Outrageous car parking should be free."

"At the time of booking this place came up on Expedia after filtering for air con (required). The hotel has an "efficient adiabatic cooling system", which we found to be inadequate during our stay. It was 27 degrees outside during the day and overnight the room didn't drop below 24 degrees. I believe this is considered an uncomfortable sleeping temperature and we were definitely uncomfortable. The staff informed us that the system was working. It's just not a very good system! The hotel is doing...

Dim lights might be romantic but a dressing table with a proper lamp so you can see what you look like is essential! Unfortunately it was quite hot due to it being on the second floor and after a string of hotter than usual days, not helped by the fact that the heated towel rail (from the hot water system) couldn't be shut off. But a great old pub to stay in all the same. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant."

"Well located for shops and both Exeter Main and St. Davids railway stations. My room was compact but well thought out and well equipped. It was great to have a light next to the bed which you could turn off/on easily and the shower was good. Breakfast was first class, beautifully served and coffee one of the best. I would have liked more savoury options for the breakfast but that is just a small preference. Host was really helpful and very welcoming. I would stay here again."

"If you get it for the right price, it can be great value for money. I do believe it’s going to be converted to apartments so, the bar is not well stocked and nothings been refurbished for a long time! Breakfast was decent and we found the room comfortable. It’s also in a great location."

"What a superb gem of a hotel. Location is ideal for travelling with plenty of car parking. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and the room had everything we needed. Breakfast was extremely good with a wide selection of continental and superbly cooked and varied hot options. Ate dinner in the restaurant and the meal was lovely. Originally booked one night travelling south and then decided to stay again a few nights later when travelling back. Will definitely be back."
