"Guest House Duoro is a very nice place to stay and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Its proximity to the river and numerous restaurants was also a real plus. Breakfast was terrific too. My only nit pick critique is that it would have been nice to have a couple of glasses in the bathroom to make it easier to brush your teeth and rinse. "

"We loved our river-view room. The bed was comfy and the room was cozy. We only stayed for one night and had an early morning all-day Douro Valley tour so the woman at the desk offered to make us box lunches to take with us since we would miss breakfast that day. She also kindly allowed us to store our luggage at the hotel while we were on our tour. "

"We had high hopes when we booked this accommodation and we were certainly not disappointed. The location of this property is genuinely breathtaking as it provides perfect views of the Douro and of the neighbouring Vila Nova de Gaia. "I want to give this property more credit but had a very unfortunate experience. We came back to our room on our trip to find that they had double booked our room. This meant that as we walked up, a complete stranger was standing in the living room with the door wide open. We were incredibly lucky to have walked up at that exact moment or else he would have had complete access to all of our belongings. "This is a really beautiful apartment in an excellent location (if you want to be near the river). It's on a cute, relatively quiet pedestrian-only street. I may have missed it in the instructions but, there's no sign in front of the building and it is very nondescript - you need to call by phone to have someone let you in. "
