"This was a lovely hotel. The shuttles they run are very helpful. The restaurant was delicious. The foot bath happy hour outside looking at the river was fantastic. We had a "private onsen" room but it was really a bathtub on the deck (more sento), not groundwater, but still very nice. The hotel onsen is also a very nice spa, but not an onsen in the traditional sense. The pricing was higher when we checked out than represented on Expedia so FYI. "

"If you want something boutique and intimate away from the usual Hakone tourist crowds, this is the place! The staff was so nice and helpful. The room was clean and spacious with amazing views. While there was no shower in our room, we basically had the small onsen areas to ourselves (men & women separate but fully nude only) or only a few other people.
