"We truly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is very attractive and modern. Our room was large and well laid out. The location is ideal-a brief walk to Nishiki market and 18 minutes to Gion. Many restaurants are nearby. Kyoto station is about a 15 minute taxi ride. The staff is excellent and helpful. The property is meticulously maintained. I would skip the restaurant for dinner. The food is tasty but the portions are small even by Japan standards. We did not eat breakfast there. We would stay here...

"Small 12 room hotel located in a nice quiet area but still close and walkable to many of the touristy areas. Beautiful room and the shower/bath was truly a spa like experience. Bed was very nice as well. Get the Japanese breakfast served in your room at least once. It was a memorable meal. "

"Excellent hotel, with large, well-appointed rooms in an area that is convenient for accessing things in Kyoto. The hotel staff members were excellent, so friendly and helpful. I forgot to make a dinner reservation for my first night in Kyoto, and the two ladies working the front desk called five places for me, and the one I visited was recommended by the hotel staff member and was incredible! The hotel also has a nice lounge. Great stay!"

"My wife and I traveled to Kyoto as part of our first trip to Japan and we both agreed, without a doubt Villa Sanjo Muromachi was a - of not the - highlight of our trip. "I was in Japan for 2 weeks, stayed in 5 locations. This was my absolute favorite hotel and location. Walkable to and from train and bus locations, shopping and fabulous restaurants all super close. Beautiful property! Very comfortable room. Soaking tub was perfect (on average we walked 20k steps a day) absolutely recommend this hotel. "
