"Used this hotel to break our journey up heading home from Taunton to Glasgow, doing so allowed us to spend more time exploring Devon and Cornwall on the Sunday, rather than having to leave early to get back to Glasgow at a reasonable time"

"Fantastic place to stay We went as a family with children 11 and 14 who enjoyed the pool after a long day at Alton Towers The only down fall or negative point would be the toilet roll in the rooms were awful and cheap that needs looking into. Otherwise a fantastic stay and I’ll be staying again sometime. "

"Everything about this ‘stately home’ hotel states luxury and first class service, from the amazing, unique approach road through a rock bridge, to the extensive landscaped grounds which are a delight to explore and are up to national arboretum standards. The public rooms, many of which have views of the grounds, evoke the splendid history of the house and our bedroom was large, light and airy with an equally large bathroom to match. "I liked this hotel very much. It was warm and welcoming and the staff were friendly and very helpful if you needed anything. The breakfast was amazing, fresh and cooked to perfection. The bar meals were very good to and all reasonably priced. I would most definitely stay here again as it felt like one big happy and homely place to stay. Would recommend it to all friends and family. "

"Breakfast was excellent, very comfortable bed, pool facilities were nice, quiet and clean, the shower in the room fluctuated in temperature and there were limited vegan options at the resturant (would love to see simple tomato pasta on the menu) but otherwise an excellent stay"

"Staff were brilliant, needed an extra fan and pillows which they happily got. Room is basic but clean and has everything you need, for the price its great. You cannot hear the m6 with the windows shut. "

"A really nice little hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nice. There was a wedding party staying at the hotel while I was there but I didn't hear them at all so the sound-proofing must have been good."

"We stayed for 2 nights as it was close to Alton Towers. Hotel itself was quite dated and the bedside tables were ancient and well used but the hotel was really clean and the staff and service was fantastic, I would definitely stay here again x"

"All was great, but I must say that the breakfast was not made that good. But it was a nice stay, and I would probably go here again. The dinner was OK, I had fish and chips. The fish was a bit overcooked, and the chips were good on the outside but dry on the inside. With slightly better food, this would be 5 stars for the price"
