"Staff was super friendly. They took us to the ski gear rental shop and back again to return the stuff. Their English was ok, enough to explain what buses to take, recommend pistes, etc. We even received a small gift when leaving. I recommend reserving the 3 meal course."

"The hospitality (service and meals) at Shiganoyu Hotel were amazing. While we did not speak Japanese and the staff did not speak English, they used a translation tool for conversation and didn't let that be a barrier. "Staff is super helpful. Location is fantastic. On the slope, close to the chairlift. You can get your lift ticket at the chairlift station and you can rent your skis at the hotel. Great breakfasts and dinners provided by the hotel. Unbelievable views. Not far from the shuttle bus stop. Head down to your left side and the hotel is the second one down. Highly recommended if you want a traditional japan accomodation experience. "

"Very nice small authentic ryokan with an outdoor public onsen. It's located 15 min walk from Shibu Onsen town, but close to the entrance to Monkey Park. There's a busstop right in front of the ryokan. The bus goes to the station and monkey park entrance and ski area. Very kind and serviceminded couple, who speak enough English to explain how it works. Good Japanese breakfast and dinner. Only coffee is in the vending machine outside. Only futons in the room. No chairs. No private bath or toilet...

"Traditional Ryokan with many onsen baths. We had our own outdoor onsen which was nice but you could also use one of the other larger onsen by free reservation, these were great. Traditional Japanese meal for dinner which was lovely and very authentic feeling. Quite expensive."
