Sandman was a big disappointment - with poorly maintained rooms and hallways, bizarre design choices and some cost cutting really impacting the experience. I’ve summarised the points below for speed:
1) there was an exposed electrical wire in our room - sticking out from the AC. Bare copper was showing and we didn’t know if it was live, but still felt like a health hazard. We reported this to front desk and it was immediately removed.
2) after our first night we returned to the room to find a note that the room couldn’t be serviced ‘due to the presence of personal items’ - this was a pair of pyjamas left on the bed! Felt like a really lazy and didn’t give us a good impression.
3) the bathroom is really small - there was nowhere my partner could place his skincare items so these had to go in the bedroom. The soap dispenser is just above the toilet roll, so it would get wet when washing hands!
4) the pool area and changing rooms didn’t feel clean. The male changing area had lockers that needed a padlock but nowhere is it explained where to get one! The towels provided were unkept and looked used and the urinals hadn’t been cleaned and smelt quite bad.
5) The hallway carpets on the 9th floor also had stains that hadn’t been cleaned in a while. The walls also had scuff marks.
