Overall Good Stay, But Be Sure To Review The Bill
Overall, I had a terrific 3-night stay in the house. It was super-clean, peaceful, well-maintained, well-located and larger than I expected. Also, the host was quite communicative throughout the trip, in regards to answering any questions that I had.
I was, however, disappointed in how the billing process was handled after the stay. Essentially, I was overcharged by $90 (which was the fee for a third adult, who I had already indicated was not coming).
In fairness, there was a good deal of back and forth in terms of how many people would be staying at the home with me. However, I did confirm the final number of people a day before arrival with the host.
Anyone can make an error, but when I raised this matter to the host’s attention, I felt that she initially tried to avoid considering if it was an error on their end (which in fact it was).
After some back and forth, the host did ultimately refund the money. However, I felt that the mistake was addressed in an unapologetic manner with the host writing: "Ok. I see now. There was a mix up in the costs. We will refund you."
I normally would assume that this was just a mistake. However, because multiple others have raised concerns related to how this host handles their billing, and because there was no apology for the mistake, it made a poor impression on me.
If you are planning to stay at this property, I suggest just ensuring that you closely review the post-stay charges.
