"Stayed this past weekend for 4 nights. There is NO AC. The lobby was great, they didn’t alert us there was no AC therefore the rooms felt humid and +85 degrees all day all night. They flat out omitted this simple detail. I asked them they said it was the heat wave. Yet the lobby was cool. The next morning I asked housekeeping they confirmed it’s been like that for a while. "Good sized rooms comfortable and a bonus the hot tub! Only downside they have extended the hot tub use to midnight from the previous 10.30pm cut off so I didn’t appreciate the room above me in the hot tub until 11.30pm it was noisy. Good quiet location."

"What a weird a** place this is. This hotel does a great job straddling the line of being friendly and unhelpful. They act like they are nice but really they just want to be mean. The hotel itself is well appointed but the presentation is a bit pretentious. It's trying to be fancy but really it's just weird. It is not family friendly. We tried to have a coffee one day in the cafe but there was no server. Then we ran into some trouble with kids pool time as the TV stated the window was 9-noon...

"It’s a very busy part of town. If you are comfortable with diversity and international foods, this is for you. We love trying all different kinds of food and enjoyed the energy of the city. You are a few minutes from the overground trains. The people that work at the hotel were so very nice. We were surprised at how small the room was. For example if you are tall or larger you would have a hard time in the bathroom or the loft and hitting your head on the ceiling. The inside looked more run...

"The hotel and the staff were great. The only advise I would give staff is that when people check in to just inform them of how the lifts work (as you need to use your room card key to work them) and how to switch the air con on in the room (took us an hour to suss out we had to press a button on the top of the panel to turn it on). Other than this it was a lovely stay over and it was very comfortable! Thank you "

"The Brownswood is lovely and I keep returning year after year. It feels like staying with family. Pub is a great time. Quick access on bus network or plenty of bikes around make commuting to central easy."

Our room had a power failure when we awoke 2nd morning, no air con & v warm day, we had to use the bathroom in the dark & couldn’t shower , when we rang reception there was no answer ,we reported as we checked out but only received an apology & still charged the full rate?"

"The room was always clean. The personnel were very helpful. The bathroom had a strange configuration with the toilet down the hall from the sink and shower. And there were no towel racks and not much storage space for our clothes. That is the only reason for 4 stars rather than 5. Otherwise it was a very nice room with air conditioning during a horrible heat wave. It was nice to have restaurants on the property. And it was near the tube and train station."
