"The hotel is a striking and unusual building, very handsome, though we would have appreciated better signs - the rooms in the 400s, which had to be accessed through the library, were difficult to find when first arriving. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and we appreciated the location of the hotel, near the seafront sights (the Mary Rose museum, Nelson's flagship Victory, etc) and the ferry ports. Everything clean and well maintained."

"the staff on the phone was most unhelpful when I asked where we were supposed to park as the hotel is on the road...we had to drive round 3 times with no directions until we happened upon an unobvious carpark......the staff were slow to greet us, only when I greeted them first ( as in hello on arrival and good morning at breakfast)...such a pity ...but the waited at dinner was brilliant (surname Morgan) funny and kind...."

"Our stay was really great. Due to flight delays I called the hotel to let them know we’d be late arriving. The receptionist stayed open later to welcome us, a really good feeling after our journey. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. We’ll definitely stay again next time we’re in the area."

"Room was a little tired but overall okay. Minor issues like ripped wallpaper etc. My only issue was the fact the latch was slightly damaged on the inside so I had no way to properly lock the door. I had to put the chain on and shove a doorstop under the door, as a solo female traveller this made me a little uncomfortable. Walls are very thin so be aware if you’re a light sleeper. "The Blue star House Hotel is on a 1way street, which is very quiet and peacefull. Very close to lots of restaurants and bistro bars. Close to a couple of shops, and very nice area on the edge of old southsea area."
