"We arrived at 17:45 on the Sunday, to find that the kitchen closed at 18:00. We had just walked 14 miles as part of our Grand Union Canal walk for Yorkshire Cancer Research. The staff were very accommodating and we were well fed! The shock was when we received the receipt for the meals and a few beers and a 10% service charge had been added. We were not asked whether we wanted to pay that. Given the circumstances, we would probably have agreed to it, but it would have been nice to be asked. "

"A perfect stay - friendly welcoming staff, well equipped room with hugh fluffy towels and a comfortable bed. Amazing dinner menu at affordable prices, good breakfast selection. The hotel is updated, the grounds are immaculate. Decor in the dining area an bars is bright, modern and comfortable. Internet had a few hiccups, and desk in room was a little small but, aside from this we would return in a heartbeat."

"The hotel grounds were lovely. The “deluxe suite” we’d booked had some worrisome issues. If you’re a guest anywhere near 6’ tall you run the risk of cracking your head (and drawing blood) on the sharp wooden beams like my spouse did. The towel rack in the bathroom (that also had a low wooden ceiling beam) was scalding hot with no shut off lever. Our safety concerns were relayed to the staff and although they said they’d investigate it didn’t seem like much of a surprise. The breakfast though...

"We had a lovely stay , the public areas were beautiful, however our room was disappointing as the only window was up high on the wall , which made ventilation an issue so it was extremely warm , and the room was in need of decoration . Having said that , I would definitely make a return visit as staff , food and the public areas were really lovely! "

"The room was pleasant, but the glass door between the bedroom and the toilet and shower area was odd and rather off putting. The bed was comfortable, and we got a good nights sleep. Breakfast was adequate, but the cereal, and other cold buffet items were uninspiring. All in all, a bit dull, particularly since a refurbishment was done in 2019. Ok for a night or two though."
