"Very cool older hotel! Front desk staff were ok, not the most friendly. Restaurant is ok, not the best. Great location - would def stay there again!"

"Be aware of the difference between city and suburban taxi drivers if you stay in Skokie and go by taxi to events in Chicago itself. Cabs to events, like Wrigley Field, are OK for price, but if that suburban company is not pre-arranged to meet you at a set time and location, hailing a city cab back to Skokie can - and did - triple our costg."

"I usually enjoy staying at the DoubleTree Hotel and have had great experiences in the past, which is why this visit was a little disappointing. During our stay, the water was turned off, which caused a major inconvenience for us. It made it difficult to shower after our event and get ready for bed. I understand that issues can happen, but it would have been appreciated if there had been better communication before booking or accommodations provided. Hoping future stays are back to the standard...

"They keep coffee out and have included breakfast. Close enough to many locations for a quick Uber ride."

"At check in the lady wasn’t very nice or helpful. Had a hard time for a few minutes finding the room as her directions were vague by pointing over there. The rest of the stay was fine considering it was only a night in this hotel."

"Everything was great, although one of the ladies during the breakfast tried to make us pay when breakfast was actually included. We needed up not paying but she kept insisting that we had to."

"The room was not vacuumed or swept, there was dirt on the ceiling, walls and doors, even after I had asked the front desk to have someone come they only came to make the bed. The fire alarm was hanging from the ceiling and didn’t look like it was working at all. The front desk was polite but assured me someone had cleaned the room. I recommend paying more to stay somewhere that actually takes cleanliness as a priority. The walls are also very thin you can hear lots from the rooms around you."

"The room temperature has to be controlled from the front office . The room temperature was up and down whole stay. Even though we to call the front office couple times per day, the room temperature was up and down and not comfortable. The environment was cozy and calm."

"Avoid. Marginally clean. Tub was gross. I did not feel comfortable taking a shower. Lamps that were supposed to have 2 light bulbs had only 1. No Kleenex supplied in room. Remote control on TV did not work. Had to go to the desk 4 times before someone came to the room and figured it out. Outside stairs are treacherous. The railings are at least 6" too low. You have to be in a bent over position to hold the railing."

"It's a wonderful property a stones throw from all the neighborhoods for local shopping and dining. Very comfortable, clean, and very quiet. The booking process is a little tedious but don't let that put you off. They are actively working to make sure all their guests have a pleasant and quite experience. We stayed in a lovely room with a small patio. It was very relaxing. We found the parking to be pretty easy."
