"Ryokan Suminoyu was absolutely wonderful. We had a traditional Japanese room with two twin futons. The bathroom and shower were modern and lovely. The staff spoke English and were very gracious about our attempts to speak Japanese. The location is perfect; tucked on a quaint street in the heart of Shibu Onsen. "The servuce was 1st class from the first moment till the end. This was a highlight to our monthlong trip. Such pride in proving excellent everything. The half board option is so worth it. What a missed opportunity if you don't. The owner is so nice and lovely. She will greet you and make you feel at home."

"This is a lovely 'boutique hotel' in an absolutely beautiful part of the area north of Nakanojo near Lake Okushima. I wanted a truly Japanese place and I got it. Few, if any, 'foreigners' in the area. I was provided a bike and road around for 3 hours. The owner is a beautiful, kind lady and her and her staff treated me like a king. I had a room with a private hot spring pool - all I can say is "wow". If you want to see a place off the beaten track, I highly recommend this hotel."

"What a delightful place to stay! Cannot praise the staff enough! They were all so helpful, friendly and accomodating. Some English speaking staff, who were honestly the best we met in our two week stay in Japan. We were told that they don’t get many English-speaking visitors and we were the only ones there, which my teen son and I loved. "５月に家族で利用して、今回は年寄りの両親の宿として予約しました。本人らいわく「年を取ると宿で出される料理が多すぎる。せっかく温泉街を宿から出ずに楽しめない。」とのこと。外食で好きな物を好きな量で楽しめて、夜の温泉街を散策できたと、この宿のコンセプトに合った利用方法でした。日曜日の夜に宿泊したので、月曜日の朝食を頼もうとしたらカフェが休業でした。もちろん、朝市もやっていません。そのため、部屋の冷蔵庫に牛乳とシリアルをサービスして頂きました。ありがとうございました。宿は改装されたようで、とにかく快適です。宿に求めることが、人と違うと思いますが、私の旅のスタイルには最適です。"
