"Lovely hotel, quiet in the suite separate from the main hotel. Good facilities- large pool and I liked there was a swim lane and general lane. Staff friendly and helpful. Little dated in the rooms but plenty of space, comfortable bed/pillows and very dark. Would recommend."

"Stay there now a couple of times It’s always been very quiet comfortable friendly staff rooms are clean very fresh bonus 24 hours shops food available drinks also a microwave in the reception area which is very useful. As I was leaving Tintern Abbey I saw the ruins of St Mary the Virgin on Chapel Hill just peeking through the trees and the ivy. If it had of been a clearer day I would have hiked up the hill for a closer look and to take some more photos.

Grand 15th-century castle that eventually fell to Parliamentary forces during the English Civil War (1646). The castle was surrendered mostly in-tact, but was slighted (purposefully disabled) to prevent any future use as a fortification. Today it's an atmospheric ruin that makes for a fun visit.
