"Just a one night stop on business so no time to investigate in detail but very friendly and helpful staff and a very nice room. Not a big room but nicely furnished and equipped with a kettle, Nespresso coffee machine and a couple of pods, tv, iron and board, etc. comfortable bed.
Overall a nice comfortable night’s stay."

"Very nice b and b room with ample parking and ideal location for where we needed to be. Good was excellent especially the full cooked breakfast. The staff were polite and helpful. My only negative was that the tables in the restaurant side could have been cleaned, they were a bit crumby and could have done with a wipe over. But apart from that a very pleasant one night stay."

"This was rather an interested stay as the place itself is a bit historical, so if your are not into this type of places, not bother to go. I found it to be very interesting. The rooms was decent and the breakfast was great. Staff was very helpful every step of the way. The in-house Portuguese restaurant is a MUST. Their wings was so good. Make sure to try them..:P"

Great location on High Street near to multiple eating places, shops and tourist attractions (e.g Colchester Castle).
Clean, big room.
Comfortable bed and pillows.
Big bathroom.
Mugs rather than cups - always a positive.
The bad
The room was too warm to be comfortable and, apart from opening the window, has no way of cooling the room - the in room thermostat indicated 28C one point.
Quilt on the bed but no top sheet - not ideal in the heat.
The location on High Street can be noisy,...

"The rooms. at the Essex Golf and Country Club are very nice and super clean. Be aware there is no in-room ac that we could find and just the smallest desk fan in the room but perhaps this is only an issue for 3 weeks a year!
We arrived late (9.30pm) and check was smooth, went to the room and unpacked and notice in the room directory suggested the bar was open until 10.30pm. We meander up only to be informed that last orders was at 10pm so we would only be permitted to purchase one drink. Then...

"Rooms was on the small side. 4' 6" bed, but very comfortable. Room didn't have any workable ventalation. All work surfaces paint gloss grey, but were sticky, In the bath room everything worked. But shower didn't drain quickly, so could flood the room. No curtain or blind at window, likewise for the single window at the rear.. Had to get kettle replaced, as it blew the fuses. On Saturday night alot of noise from the occupants of rooms above until 2.30pm. Glad we were only staying...
