"The place had literally changed management that day so unfortunately there was no cooked breakfast (only continental) until Sunday when the Chef would be in. "We went with our children, who are 5 and 2. The family room we stayed at was big and spacious, so was the bathroom. All beds were comfortable, and they even had a cot ready for our 2yo. The children had a blast playing at the large play area while seeing the goats and alpacas. Breakfast was included and it was pretty good. The only downside was that, even though they have wifi, we had no signal in our room, so we could only go online (wifi or otherwise) at the restaurant and common areas."

"What an absolute treat The Red Lion is. I went of pervious reviews and it didn’t disappoint. In fact it exceeded my expectations, what a gem of a place. The Staff were simple amazing, David and Jasmine were fantastic and always on hand of we needed anything. The rooms are so comfortable and modern, the Breakfast was fabulous and the food in the pub was outstanding. My only problem is that I won't have the homemade biscuits that were in the room, tonight with my cuppa tea when i am at home."

Manor Farmhouse - Trent Grade II listed detached farmhouse, dated 1660, with a range to the rear of the C18, and with C20 restoration. The owner told me the main property was originally thatched, as many such houses were, traces of which were found in the roof void (note the parapet at the gable ends to contain the thatch). In more recent times, the thatch was replaced with Welsh slates, the stone tiles at the bottom of the roof being retained. Stone tiles were mostly used here in Dorset just at the eaves, where the load bearing supporting walls could take their weight.
