The room was quite hot, even on a cool day, and were it not for the ability to open the window and use a fan (already in the room) it would have been very comfortable. The condition of the room - new and clean - was very good."

"My friend and I had a girlie two night break at this hotel and loved it. When we arrived the receptionist noticed I was using a walking aid and unprompted started looking to change our room to an accessible room eliminating needing to use stairs. We were very touched by his thoughtfulness. It was an upgrade to a suite which was outstanding and it really enhanced our comfort and experience. We had a sitting room (with verandah) which was very comfortable and well equipped with a coffee maker,...

"The Black Swan in the centre if Helmsley is ideal for visiting the local area,comfortable clean and well appointed. Staff helpful and pleasant. "rooms were clean and tidy Staff were very friendly and on arrival and throughout our stay. went out of there way to help or deal with any issue. great service. Breakfast was included. Good choice was offered and was delivered quickly and efficiently. Evening meals were great value for money and plenty of choice. Bar had a nice cosy relaxing atmosphere. "Enjoyed the stay but it was noisy trying to get to sleep in the cottage room and I’m curious as to why there were only 9 loungers in the spa but there are 60 bedrooms ? I had to sit on a chair .. not really the spa experience I was looking for. Also another gripe of mine is no full length mirrors in bedrooms ? And no table near a mirror to sit and dry hair and do makeup ? It’s the little things that make all the difference."

"Beautiful country hotel, small and personal service, delightful comfortable en-suite rooms, warm inviting pool - often to ourselves, incredible top class gourmet food - formal dining and bar food served in the warm and cosy bar area or the relaxing lounge. So much choice at breakfast, all delicious, everything you could want. Can’t wait to go back in summer to enjoy the open terrace overlooking the pond. A real joy to stay here."

"This is a beautiful hotel in all aspects! The breakfast was the nicest hotel I have had in a long while and I travel alot!! Perfectly situated for the coast, we visited Scarborough, Robin Hoods Bay and whitby; and for York and Harrogate. Would definately stay here again if we find ourselves in that part of the country again!!"
