Boasting amazing ocean views and a highly desirable location in the charming Alpine Chalets retreat in Otter Rock, this warm and welcoming Penthouse Suite makes a fantastic Oregon Coast vacation home for your time at the beach!

One of eleven units in this charming community of vacation homes, the Penthouse Suite is ideal for two couples or a small family getaway. The open floor plan and corner views allow your group to soak up the panorama of the Pacific from the living, dining, and kitchen areas of this special suite.

The sofa and comfortable armchairs sit before a brick hearth, providing a wonderful spot to settle in with a good book or a board game and watch a winter storm blow in. There's also a cable TV with VCR and DVD player for movie nights. When the weather's nice, you won't be able to resist stepping out to the deck to feel the ocean breezes and watch the sunset. Light up a fire in the firepit for extra beach vibes.

Enjoy private ocean view dining at the four-person table, and even take in the scenery as you prepare meals in the full kitchen! All the usual appliances, pots and pans, and dinnerware are provided, so all you'll need to bring along are the groceries. There's a dishwasher for easy clean-up, and a lovely picnic area if you feel like eating outside a sunny day. The breakfast bar also makes it easy for a few guests to chat with the cook or help peel vegetables.

The whole family will love staying here at the Alpine Chalets! The beautiful sands of Beverly Beach below is accessible via a private trail, and stretches all the way to Yaquina Head. Newport's shopping and dining are only eight miles south, and there are a few options just half a mile away in Otter Rock - including an exceptionally scenic outpost of the popular Mo's seafood chain.

Can I give zero stars!?

-Walking up the stairs was a hazard because they were so slippery and steep. -the inside of the property was musty and damp. Which they are aware of because there is multiple air purifiers in the space. -the room the children were sleeping in leaked and kept waking them up. -I felt cleaner if I didn’t shower. The shower curtains were gross and dirty. -I felt sick walking around inside because of the smell and I’m pretty sure the whole building is falling off the cliff anyway because there is a major slant in the rooms. All in all this property does not even deserve 1 star.

Not the best communication or response

House was not clean when we got there. Had to wait another 3 hours before we could even get in. WIFI did not work and I called about it with no response. Stairs to the beach completely unsafe and almost fell.

Eyes wide open

The positive of this condo is it's beautiful location. In the "penthouse suite" there are views of the ocean from the deck and living room. However, there were a few things to be aware of. The dishes and pots/pans were marginally clean. I didn't feel comfortable using anything without washing it first. The entire place was decorated in shabby 70's decor. The rugs were disgusting, and made me concerned about the overall cleanliness of the place. The countertop in the bathroom was dirty, water stains and who knows what. The biggest problem we encountered was the lack of a working lock on the entrance door. It locked from the inside, but the key didn't work to lock the door if I went out. I contacted the management and they came and changed it out the next day, but I was not able to make that lock work either, the key kept getting stuck. There was a light switch that was connected to a ceiling fan/light. When I arrived it was held on by one screw, like someone had attempted to repair it and left it mid-job. When I turned the fan on I discovered it wasn't possible to turn it off. Maintenance was called for this as well, and was able to turn it off by wiggling wires, and then left it with wires exposed and not working for the rest of our stay. I requested a partial refund for the inconvenience of having these issues and dealing with maintenance while on vacation. I never heard back about this request.

Comfortable and clean

View is to die for. Bed was comfy but pillows were deflated. Unit was spic and span except for the carpet which vrbo said they had dealt with before we booked. We did not notice any odors but we both had colds. Our dog loved hanging out on the fenced deck and her leashless runs on the deserted beach.

Nice location and view but needs some TLC

Great property with excellent views and privacy. This property just needs a little more care, maybe a carpet clean, and some minor electrical updates. The penthouse was aged, but not in terrible shape. There was a little beach funk in the apartment, but dissipated after one day with activity in the place. Definitely worth the cost, when you factor in other locations with the same kind of amenities. Would definitely stay again!

Stunning Views! Disgusting carpet

We stayed here several times. We absolutely LOVE the view and location. I read several reviews before our stay this time and people complained about stains and smell in the carpets. So I assumed they took care of the carpet issues. NOPE!! the carpets were worse than the last time we stayed. stains all over, dog smell. This wasnt the fault of the housekeeper. we saw the vacuum cleaner she had to use and it was old and didnt pick up any of the dog hair. I felt bad for her because she really tried to clean the entire place while we waited because we arrived early. You seriously need to either shampoo the carpets or or replace them. they are HORRIBLE. The only reason we keep coming back is the VIEW.

Perfect Location/Almost private Beach

Fantastic location and beach has very few people on it due to public access being on either end and property is in about the middle. Have stayed here several times. Being that dogs are welcome is a HUGE plus. However, as many others have commented for months, carpet is VERY dirty with many pet stains. I would gladly pay $5 more per day to have the carpet changed once a year. Not a deal breaker though as there are no bad smells from the carpet. Also, only two of the stove burners worked. One didn't work at all and one would hardly get warm even on high. Would stay again even with minor issues as the pluses outweigh the negatives.

Splendid views and easy beach access

Not sure I understand the negative comments. A clean place with a great ocean view. Beautiful, expansive beach. Perfect for our furry friend, Bishme (he was in heaven)...Highly recommend it!

Our 60th Anniversary trip with our two sons.

Everything was clean and well stocked with all of the essentials. The front door gave us some problems but everything else worked fine. The view of the ocean was great and we enjoyed the walk to the beach. The staff was courteous and attentive.

unmaintained and low quality with a view

our property was not ready for us to check in on time. 80 minutes late. worse yet, no call from the property manager to warn us about the delay. basic maintenance is not being done. several sockets couldn't hold a plug. the sider door was full of junk and therefore very difficult to close. there was newer furniture than the pictures, however the 2 chairs were off the poorest quality, you practically sink into the floor when you sit in them. multiple stains on the floor. damage to the moldings in the bathroom from dogs locked in there. pictures of the deck are not correct at all. instead of a beautiful wrap around deck there is a run down wooden deck. surrounding trees have grown up and blocked some of the view although the ocean is still visible. we did like the path down to the beach. unfortunately not allowed to use the fire pit because of fire restrictions. we would definitely not go back if we had any other choices. it's too bad because the place has potential. with just a few easy changes the rating could have been higher.

Perfect Porch and Positioning

This stay was almost exactly what we were looking for to celebrate a pair of besties birthdays. We wanted to be able to see/hear the ocean and have a porch big enough to put up our two hammocks to relax and this fit both of those perfectly. You can, however, definitely tell that pets were allowed (there were stains all over the carpets) which was fine, and it smelled a bit musty but opening the windows fairly quickly helped that go away. The only other bad thing was the main door, it was a big sliding glass door and it took a lot of work to get it to close and make sure it was closed enough to lock it. Other than that, I would definitely come back to this spot in a heartbeat!

Perfect location, but…

The property location is beautiful. The manager was very helpful. The room itself needs a total upgrade. The carpet is nasty, stained and stinky. The surfaces needed cleaning in rooms. The sliding glass door…doesn’t close. The bathroom door woodwork, is completely trashed. The trail leading to the beach, and the grounds are lovely. It is located on the best beach imaginable. The condo however, needs attention. Will pass on this property in the future.

Good view, furnishings not great.

This place was clean and had a great view, but the furnishings were really lacking compared to other vacation rentals I've stayed in. For example, there was only one small lamp in the living room (who wants to use overhead lighting at night??), there were no extra blankets and only one thin hotel-type topper blanket on the bed. The sheets were also really cheap feeling, and too big for the bed so they immediately came off and got all bundled up. The pillows were also pretty uncomfortable, very thick and not soft at all. There was also like a plastic mattress cover on the mattress and it was just very uncomfortable all around. I am not a super picky, high-maintenance person, but this was very disappointing for the price and in comparison with other vacation rentals I've stayed at. Clean enough with good kitchen amenities, nice view and good beach access, but very sparsely/ poorly furnished otherwise.

Great vacation!

The house was enjoyable, it maybe needs a bit more cleaning and some general upkeep, but being pet friendly, that’s understandable. Our two dogs loved it and The beach access and location is unbeatable. Walk a half mile up the beach and go get coffee and the best pastries up by the devils punch bowl.

Quiet and secluded location despite being fairly close to the main highway. Fairly steep but close access to the beach which is large and was very peaceful during our stay. Very nice visit and will return.

Nice view but needs renovation

Nice view and big suite but carpet was stained, mold stains on lampshades and curtains and needs a paint job badly. Carpets were falling apart, doors wouldn't stay shut and the whole suite is slightly tilted.

Good place to stay....if you have and are bringing dogs.

For us and this particular trip, this was a good place to say because we brought our 3 dogs. It’s a cute place, quick access to the beach, fireplace, beautiful view with the deck and a quick drive to Walmart if you forgot something. All basic necessities provided. But...As the other reviews stated, the carpets were very stained, you can tell someone before us left their dogs in the bathroom and left cause the door and trim is chewed/scratched. Only one light worked in the 2nd bathroom, the doors wouldn’t stay open unless they were propped open with a door stopper, the latch on the gate was broken so you had to be very careful coming/going and sliding door was very very hard to open and close. Would I stay here for a romantic get away, no. But for someone with pets and bringing pets, this was a good place to stay.

Beautiful spot, AMAZING view!

My best friend, father & I came to Otter Beach for a long weekend and had a WONDERFUL time at the chalet. Super clean, comfy, and convenient, with breathtaking ocean views. Our dogs had fun running on the beach, and it's a quick walk over to the local coffee place for drinks & snacks. We'd love to go back!

Reasonable older upper level house with awesome beach

Unit was pretty clean with stains on the carpet from previous pets. Good for a twosome with pets. Needs some updating and minor repairs. Comes with most of what you need to do cooking. Bed we occupied was very comfortable. Access to great beach with very few other beach goers.
