Travel tip: if you get too much sun, find an aloe plant (they grow all over in the lush landscape), break open the tip of a 'leaf' and smear the clear "goo" from inside straight on the sunburn. This will soothe it immediately. Also, if you plan to surf, wear water shoes for protection against sea urchins! If you step on one, you must soak your foot in urine to treat. OUCH!

This is where we started the 2 hour walk to where the lava flowed down into the sea on the big Island. The rangers wouldn't let you go unless you had a flash light and 2 bottles of water per person. It was worth it , the ranger said it was where you can see mother earth giving birth.
