"I did not get to stay at the OVO, I booked the wrong date (my error), but having paid Expedia for insurance that would alow me to make changes to the booking, the venue wanted to charge a handling fee that was 100% of the room cost. seeing that it would have cost me the full room cost on top of whatever the actual day would cost me I decided not to cancel and to book elsewhere."

"We stayed overnight at The Gateway Inn for a nearby family function and it was absolutely lovely - we wish we could have stayed longer and definitely intend to come back. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the rooms and bar/restaurant are all comfortably and beautifully finished. Our room was impeccably cleaned, furnished beautifully and had lovely amenities included (toiletries and tea/coffee, biscuits). "Stays there with my girlfriend for my first year anniversary, that staff were absolutely amazing super happy to help with anything we inquired, the room and bathroom were spotless and towels and robe were fresh, the breakfast was amazing and bar had loads of variety of drinks and cocktails"

"Love this place! Lovely, welcoming real fires in winter. Cool outdoor area for brighter days. Spent a great couple of hours in the beer garden. Rooms clean and well kitted out. Breakfast brilliant!"

"A great location to stop after a long drive. Very convenient. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was spotless with lovely locally sourced products. Whilst we didn't eat dinner here it was busy and there us a children's play area too. We ate at the Hare & Hounds; a very pleasant 20 minute walk away. There is plenty of car parking spaces at the Gilpin. The breakfast is very basic. We would definitely stay again but not opt for the breakfast."

"The hotel was on the main street with shops and pubs all in walking distance. We were able to eat and drink at the Red Dragon. The only drawback was no on site parking so the car had to be left about 10 minutes walk away. This was the only issue the rest was great."

"Craig and Tommy were excellent welcoming hosts and they couldn’t do enough to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. We loved the quirkiness, laid back feel, and atmosphere of the Ryebeck. The food was very good and we wish to pass on our compliments to the chef. The hotel’s location and its views across the Windermere are wonderful. We will certainly look to stay again.
