"Excellent hotel, my only complaint would be the Peninsula food service. We ate at the Shanghai Terrace our first night on site and honestly the food was only 2 stars. Specifically the appetizers were minuscule, and 90% pastry dough. Whatever filling was supposed to be inside all the dough largely wasn’t. The whole Peking duck was arranged haphazardly on the plate, the skin was not really crispy, and the taste experience was completely lackluster. As to the main dining room the service...

"When we checked in there was evidence of a previous stay. This was quickly resolved when we reported it. Our housekeepers went above and beyond afterwards. We had an incident unrelated to the hotel and they helped us out quickly and with care. I will always stay at Sofitel when I visit Chicago!"

"Very friendly staff. We were able to check in early, which was nice. The room was clean. Window bench was awesome. Loved the location. We really enjoyed the Riverwalk. Beautiful city! ❤️"

"Great place to stay. Clean and quiet and conveniently located to all types of eating, shopping, and river walk. Great breakfast buffet to start the day and fantastic rooftop bar for the evening!"

"I arrived while on a work call and at 12pm (way earlier than check in time)- the lady at the check in desk was so helpful, checked me in with no questions asked. This little gesture made all the difference. I visit Chicago quarterly for work and I will now always book the Thompson- great service, thank you!"

"The overall ambience of the hotel was incredible and incited my curiosity and wonder. I absolutely adored my room and how the shower was placed in the center of the room the restaurant had a wonderful selection for breakfast and they made a mean latte"

"Right on the riverfront so it’s close to restaurants, shopping, Millenium Park and the train. Classy place. Beds were wonderful (firm mattress and quality pillows and linens). Since it’s right on the riverfront, it’s noisy (loud cars, lots of people, etc). We’d stay again!"
