Location, location, location! Crab Shack, best shack on the island. This older spacious four-bedroom home is truly one of the best lots on the island, as it has direct views of the Gulf of America and the Audubon Sanctuary! You can relax in paradise enjoying the beautiful views from the large, wrap-around porch while reading a book or sipping on a tasty cocktail. This dog-friendly home features direct access to the beach by a lovely sand trail. The custom artwork throughout the home was hand-painted by our talented local artists and bring a lot of personality to this beach house! You can also enjoy lounging on the beach, just steps out your back door. There is a private gas grill you can use to treat your family to a tasty cookout while the sun sets.

What's nearby:
The Crab Shack is located in the gated subdivision of Audubon Place directly on the beaches of Dauphin Island. You will have great views of the Audubon Sanctuary, and if you would like to visit, it's less than one mile away. Don't forget to stop by the historic Fort Gaines and check out the fortress with an original cannon, a museum, and tours led by guides in period uniforms. You are also within five miles of many great local restaurants with a variety of flavors!

Sad state of disrepair.

The view is wonderful, and the house could be. BUT IT IS NOW IN A VERY SAF STATE IF DISREPAIR. Two windows are closed up with storm shutters. A main set of French doors to the deck is nailed shut with boards, the fireplace is non-functional, multiple fans don’t work, the stove is pitiful. Not what you should get in an exclusive gated community on the beach. The house is in fact not beachfront. It is one lot back from the beach and so it has no direct access to the beach. You have to around other properties to get to it. There’s more (sheet covering a window, screen porch but no screens, only one gate pass provided for everyone to share) but you get the point. Vacasa was unhelpful

Location Location Location

The location of this property couldn't be beat! We loved being so close to the bird sanctuary, with no other beach front properties to the East of this house. Felt very private!

Dauphin vacation

Overall, I was pleased with the property and our first trip to Dauphin (have made many trips to Gulf Shores/Ft. Morgan). The back deck suffered some damage the week before from Cristobal, but that's nobody's fault. I would suggest some window shades in the bedrooms. The morning sunlight was welcome in the living area, but it would have been nice for a little more darkness in the early morning hours while still in bed. Finally, I was having trouble processing one of my payments. In an effort to clear it up, I tried to contact the property manager on several occasions, by phone and e-mail. I never received a response. I ultimately resolved it myself online.

Panoramic paradise

We absolutely loved this house and it’s amazing views. My family and I had recently experienced a loss and needed an escape. Little did we know this house would be perfect not only for that but also offer privacy we didn’t know we needed. This house was like having an over the water bungalow minus the 15 hour flight and insane price tag. Our only issue was something on the cleaning people, not the place itself.

Last minute cancellation turned into dream vacation!

Our group of 13 had booked a different house on the island only to receive an email a week before to say it was cancelled due to mold. We got an email from vacasa saying this house was available if we wanted to keep the same dates. Talk about an upgrade! The location alone makes this a 5 star property. We had a private beachfront with a long stretch of nothing but beach to the left due to the bird sanctuary. The house was a good size, we could have used one more bedroom but made it work. There were a few things that could use some attention, the kitchen cabinets are in need of updating, the downstairs outdoor electrical plugs shocked my husband and one of the exterior storm windows was completely cracked and glass actually fell out on to the patio where our children were playing. We did get a quick response about that and they sent a handyman to access the damage. Overall these were not major issues and everyone in the group was beyond happy with the house and location. We will definitely be returning next year! Thank you for a great vacation!!
