Eltz Castle, never affected by wars, has been owned by the Eltz family from the 9th century until today. Its architecture has no comparison and many of the original furnishings of the past 8 centuries still remain in place. The castle towers high on a large rock, but is still in a valley. It is surrounded by the Eltz Forest, a nature reserve full of rare fauna and flora. #TroveOnTuesday #Trovember #History
My favorite view of the castle from the walking path. There is some construction that was underway during our visit but it did not detract too much from the beauty and charm of this castle. I highly recommend a visit here. #takeahike #germany #architecture

Tolle Unterkunft! Der Besuch in Merl war echt eine besondere Erfahrung. Wir haben sehr gute Tipps bekommen, darunter der Wei(h)nachtsmarkt in Traben Trabach und ein Besuch in der Merler Hölle für leckeres Hähnchen, guten Wein und lokale Geschichte. Vielen Dank!
