Extremely Disappointing Stay – Not Worth $200+ Per Night As a Best Western Rewards member, I was extremely disappointed with my stay at the Sandman Hotel in St. John’s. For a hotel charging over $200 per night, I expected a much higher standard of customer service and hospitality. After traveling since 11:24 p.m. on July 31, I arrived in St. John’s around 9:00 a.m. We had breakfast and then went to the hotel, understanding that early check-in might not be available. My issue was never that the room wasn’t ready it was the way we were treated. From the moment we arrived, I felt ignored by the front desk staff. Questions were answered in a dismissive manner. I watched other early-arriving guests have their luggage offered for storage, yet no one extended that courtesy to us. After being awake all night traveling, I eventually fell asleep in the lobby. Instead of checking on us or offering any assistance, the manager woke me simply to say that I can’t sleep in the lobby. Only then was our luggage finally taken. the experience became even more frustrating. Despite having a confirmation number and having booked months in advance, I was told there was no reservation under my name. I was given what I can only describe as a small, outdated, and dingy room. The biggest disappointment was housekeeping. During my entire four-night stay, my room was never cleaned. The bed linens were never changed, toiletries were never replenished, and basic housekeeping services were not provided.
