"Simply perfect for a memorable stay in the heart of Dartmoor. We hadn't planned to stay until a few days before hand, but having seen the fantastic weather forecast decided to book (initially) a 1-night stopover on our way from Shropshire to Looe in Cornwall. "Unfortunately the hotel had some problems in the kitchen which impacted very badly on the menu for dinner, the breakfast, service (so slow) and noise. It would have been better to fix the problems before reopening or to have had the courtesy to let us know in advance what the situation was. I would have stayed somewhere else. Extremely disappointing as I’ve had lovely stays here in the past. "

"This hotel is full of character, but the fittings, bathroom, bed are all thoroughly modern, crisp and clean. Breakfast was great, the staff weekday and weekend were very helpful. Dinner was good - the menu extensive enough to provide options for each evening they were there. Ability to park safely onsite is always welcome. The locatio is superb. I'd say top of the grade for a 3-star property. "

"All of the staff are so friendly and welcoming. This is the third time we have stayed at the , " Duke of York". The rooms are always clean and well supplied and wonderfully quirky. The food is exquisite, good suppliers and a talented chef make any meal you order an absolute delight. The choice of beers and ciders definately hit the spot and are excellently kept. We will, without question, be looking to return for more stays regardless of the season because any time of year is great here."
