Ancient mill in the "green hearth" of Tuscany

This ancient mill, in the past one of the most important of Garfagnana, has been carefully restored preserving its peculiarities that make it a place full of history and traditions. Perfect for a relaxing holiday in a unique place, with a surreal atmosphere and far from the everyday reality.
The town of Pieve Fosciana and the medieval village of Sillico can be reached within a few minutes by car. Consisting of 2 buildings, it has a swimming pool and private parking.
The main building consists of four bedrooms, two with double beds and two with twin beds, for a total of eight. There are two bathrooms, one with shower and one with bathtub, a fully equipped kitchen, a living room adorned by an antique fireplace and dining room. Externally the location is unique for the harmony with which nature blends with these buildings. The swimming pool is made up of an old tub located in the center of the garden furnished with deckchairs, umbrella and table. You reach the mill via a 2,4 km dirt road. ending in the reserved parking. From here you walk through a characteristic wooden bridge over the stream to enter the private garden.
Groups of more than 8 people will also have the dependance consisting of the fifth bedroom with a double bed and a private bathroom.
Guests have access to the garden with swimming pool, to the private parking and, if more than 8 people, to the the dependence with the fifth bedroom and another bathroom.

It is suggested that you use a 4x4 or not too low car for the dirt road.

Wow. It was even better than we imagined and hoped for. The location of the Mill is unparalleled - from the winding lane that gets you there, to the mountain stream and the charming rope bridge across it. The Mill itself is ancient and has been sensitively updated to ensure that you have all the facilities you need without losing the sense of history. The pizza oven and outdoor seating area is perfect for enjoying fabulous food in the dappled shade. Try the restaurant in Sillico too - the terrace looks out over mountains to the sunset!

Amazing stay in the middle of the woods

The old mill is beautifully renovated with all the amenities needed for a very relaxing stay. The pool was always clean and when we had small problems with the lights the host came right away and took care of it. It's right next to a creek which is perfect for a quick bath in the morning. Elisabetta is the best host and the area around the house very beautiful. We would always come back.

Ruhige Idylle mitten im Wald

Unsere Dreigenerationenfamilie verbrachte zwei herrliche Wochen in der alten Mühle. Wir genossen die Ruhe und Abgeschiedenheit. Das Grillengezirpe und das Plätschern des Baches war die einzige Geräuschkulisse. Der Pool wurde rege benutzt. Unter dem Nussbaum fanden wir ausreichend Schatten. Der Pizzaofen wurde oft eingefeuert und wir fühlten uns schon fast wie Pizzabäcker. Die Kinder fanden viele abenteuerliche Spielmöglichkeiten rund um die Anlage. Der Tag wurde mit einem gemütlichen Lagerfeuer abgerundet. Für Familien mit Kindern ist die alte Mühle sehr empfehlenswert.

Wandern in Kastanienwäldern

Wir haben eine wunderbar erholsame Woche mit wandern, kochen und genießen verbracht. Der Tag begann mit einem sonnigen Frühstück an der langen Tafel, man konnte direkt am Haus einige Wanderungen starten und er endete oft am Pizzaofen.

Ein Paradies mitten in der Natur

Wer gerne fernab vom Tourismus Ruhe und Erholung in schönster Natur sucht, ist in dieser alten Mühle genau richtig! Wir haben die 2 Wochen sehr genossen, die Kinder spielten den ganzen Tag draussen am Bach oder genossen den Pool!! Die Pizzas aus dem eigenen Pizzaofen schmeckten herrlich!! Ein Paradies in der schönen Toskana! Die sympathische Gastgeberin Elisabetta war immer erreichbar und hat uns bei allen Anliegen unterstützt. Wir kommen wieder, gar keine Frage!

Wunderschöne alte Mühle

Die Mühle liegt vollkommen für sich alleine in einem wunderschönen Tal am Bach in einem weiten Kastanienwaldgebiet. Für Liebhaber origoneller und besonderer Orte ein wahres Paradies. Die ersten zwei Tage waren ein perfekter Urlaub, wir konnten sogar im eigenen Pizzaofen Pizza backen. Danach hatten wir leider Pech und es hat jeden Tag geregnet. Dadurch kam die doch schon sehr abgelegene Lage uns in die Quere, da wir den Ort selber nicht wirklich nutzen konnten. Bei gutem Wetter aber ein echter Traum und ein wirklich einzigartiger Ort.

Traumhafte alte Kastanienmühle

Wir haben im August 2020 hier zwei wunderbare Wochen mit unseren 6 Kindern verbracht. Die Mühle liegt in einem wunderschönen kleinen Tal direkt an einem Bach der später in den Serchio mündet. Die Mühle ist umrandet von Kastanienwäldern und der Weg dorthin mit dem Auto ist schon ein Erlebnis für sich. Man ist wirklich fernab von jeglichem Massentourismus nur für sich mit der Natur, dem Bach und dem wunderbar restauriertem alten Haus (~1600 errichtet). Man kann am Haus sehr entspannte Tage verbringen und die umliegende Gegend bietet wirklich zahreiche Möglichkeiten für Ausflüge. Für Ausflüge ans Meer braucht man zwar etwas mehr Zeit, aber auch dieser Weg lohnt sich. Ein echtes Highlight für die Kinder war der Pool, der ausgiebig genutzt worden ist. Dazu ist der Bach nur einen Steinwurf entfernt und bietet viel Abwechslung. Wir haben mit Steinen eine große, tiefe "Badewanne" gebaut in der man sich super abfrischen kann. Wenn man dem Wanderweg Sentiero del Moro, der direkt am Haus vorbei führt, ein Stück flussabwärts bis zum Kraftwerk folgt, kann man eine wirklich schöne Wanderung durch den Bach flussaufwärts bis zur Mühle machen. Wer Mountainbiken mag ist hier ebenfalls bestens aufgehoben. Sowohl der Fahrweg zur Mühle, als auch der Wanderweg am Haus eignen sich bestens für kleinere Ausfahrten. Unser Highlight war definitiv der Pizzaofen. Nach dem ersten Test haben wir unser Brot hier selbst gebacken. Die Pizza aus dem Ofen schmeckt einfach fantastisch. Die Vemieter Elisebetta und ihr Mann Roberto sind sehr gastfreundlich und kümmern sich bei kleinerern Problemen mit dem Haus sofort und sehr liebevoll um Ihre Gäste. Vielen Dank Euch beiden, es war ein toller Urlaub!

Isolement et quiétude

Endroit magnifique, isolé à souhait, perdu au milieu de la montagne et de la végétation. Au fond du jardin coule un torrent plus joli que certains pour lesquels on est prêt à marcher deux heures durant. La piscine et le jardin sont parfait pour profiter de l'absence de programme pour les adultes comme pour les enfants. Un lieu unique et magique pour récupérer de l'année écoulée.

Peaceful holiday

If you are looking for a perfect and peaceful holiday, then do not look any further, this is the place : no network, no wifi and a real reconnection to nature listening to the only sound of the river near by. The mill and the location are absolutely awesome, very authentic, well renovated and furnished, right in the heart of green Tuscany. Walking in the forest (magnificent) and in the river, making your own pizza, looking for mushrooms, and just relaxing. The drive way can be a little scary, it will seem to take you to the end of the world, but once you have done it you are just 15min away from the nearest village, and a little bit more from Pieve. 45 min walks to the nearest village through the forest, amazing! A secret location to keep! Elisabetta is a great host.

Natur pur - beste Erholung

An Pfingsten waren wir zu sechst / zwei Generationen in der alten Kastanienmühle. Die Mühle hat viel Charme, denn die Räume haben den alten Charakter erhalten. Elisabetta und Roberto sind sehr freundliche, hilfsbereite und engagierte Vermieter. Selten haben wir einen so erholsamen Urlaub erlebt. Flussrauschen, Vogelzwitschern, Eidechsen, Rehe , Füchse und ein Stachelschwein - Natur pur. Das Pizzabacken im HJolzofen hat viel Spaß gemcht auch wenn das Ergebnis mangels Erfahrung mit Holzofen noch nicht perfekt war. Sehr angenehm fanden wir auch an den ersten drei noch kalten Tagen, dass das Haus über eine funktionierende Heizung verfügt. Wir haben uns ehr wophl gefühlt und können die alte Mühle sehr empfehlen.
