Set in peaceful Newstead—a charming riverside town—you are ideally placed to explore the iconic streets of Maldon, Castlemaine and Daylesford. Relax in the quiet garden by the water feature for a restful stay.

Perfect for two couples or a romantic getaway, with two queen bedrooms, full equipped kitchen, and a rare romantic double-shower wet room.

We welcome your pet—after all, they’re part of the family.
There are just a few things to keep in mind:
Please bring your pet’s own bed. It helps them feel more at home.
Pets are not allowed on the beds or furniture.

Pets must not be left alone in the cottage. A new place can feel a little overwhelming for them, and we’d hate for your furry family member to feel anxious while on holiday.

Our charming period cottage is tucked just over the Loddon River in Newstead. While the backyard (152 m²) is fenced, there’s a park directly across the road and farmland and bushland nearby — which can be very exciting for curious noses! So please keep dogs on a lead when out and about, and make sure they’re supervised in the backyard.

Neal and Marie are very welcoming hosts, who will tend to any needs to make your stay stress-free. The cottage has been beautifully and tastefully restored, with the addition of a modern bathroom. A lovely, quite and comfortable place to stay. Very well thermally insulated with an easy to access bathroom (from the main bedroom) with a double shower. Thank you Neal and Marie and we look forward to our next stay with you :).

"Our stay at the Cute Cottage in Newstead was absolutely wonderful! From the warm and welcoming staff to the immaculate and thoughtfully designed rooms, every detail was perfect. The location was ideal, offering both convenience and a peaceful atmosphere. The amenities exceeded our expectations, and we truly felt like we were in a home away from home. We can't recommend Neal's cottage highly enough and look forward to returning in the future!"

We all loved this property - very peaceful spot, had everything we needed, well equipped, quality furnishings, comfortable, with a perfect verandah to chillax on! Newstead is a great location to explore surrounding areas, and the local IGA and butcher is handy if you want to self cater. Friendly town & owners - we felt very welcome.

Country retreat

We really enjoyed this little cottage. Quiet location in an area central to our travels and really nicely set up. Our hosts were very friendly and gave us lots of district information about where we might go and good restaurants but were also very sensitive to privacy which was greatly appreciated. The beds were very comfortable and attention to detail was evident in making things right for our arrival.

Beautiful presented cottage and in close proximity to many Nature Reserves allowing us to search for wild orchids and flowers. Our host Neal topped up our firewood each day and provided us with details of local attractions. We will visit again.

Delightful country cottage

The cottage was spotless and meticulously maintained which made our stay pleasant and comfortable. The wood-burning heater created a warm and cosy atmosphere for the crisp winter nights. Friendly hosts Neal and Marie provided us with extensive local information for food and sightseeing and made sure that our stay was a positive experience.

Perfect for us

We, including our dog, Ruby, had a lovely week exploring central Victoria. Newstead is ideally located for this and the house was charming and comfortable. Neal is a thoughtful but discreet host, who made sure that all was good and we had everything we needed.
