The room was gorgeous, the staff could not have been more helpful, and we looked a mess after a bad experience at another hotel in York, but they treated us with respect and helped us to our room. The breakfast was fantastic, bar and restaurant and spa as well. This is the BEST hotel in York!"

"Lovely apartment in a historic building, ideally located just outside the city centre, but within easy walking distance of all places of interest in York. Nice touch of leaving a bottle of bubbly in the fridge - a good sign that the hosts are attentive. The apartment itself is well furnished and equipped, and really does feel like a home from home. Overall, thoroughly recommended."

"The night shift reception was not impressive! Someone who could not possibly put a smile on let alone being helpful. Location was decent and hotel was relatively clean given it's age. Did not have the breakfast there so cant comment on that. Bedding could also be a lot better for a 4-starred hotel"

"We were expecting something special for the £175 we paid for this “deluxe” double. We were very disappointed to be given a ground floor, small double. This was next to the front door and on the fairly busy road. Disturbed by a drunken hen party knocking on the door as they couldn’t be bothered to find their key. The onsite staff had gone by 5:30 when they’re supposed to be there until 8:00pm. Our room was really hot. We had to ring the emergency number for a fan, the manager living half an hour...

Breakfast was delicious, served freshly cooked on piping hot plates. Good parking, perfect location. "What a great place to stay. We highly recommend it! Breakfast was excellent. Christina, our breakfast waitress was outstanding. Lots of breakfast choices. The breakfast room was very nice and the table in the window bay was special. Our room was spacious, and the kitchen amenities were complete. There was a small table where we could sit looking on the back garden. The bathroom was also spacious and well done. The decor in the condition of everything was amazing given the age of the building....
