"I absolutely loved this place! My boyfriend and I took one room and my Mom took the one next to us. The rooms were beautiful, and the beds were very comfortable. There's an intercom you can turn on to play ambient music; it was on when we walked in and it just made the arrival so relaxing. "Our experience was amazing. We enjoyed wonderful breakfasts with eggs, bacon or sausage, fresh fruit, and a biscuit, Belgian waffle or pancake every morning. We had cookies waiting for us in the afternoon and wine and appetizers in the evening. We never made it to the port wine and snack before bedtime. The inn is magical with it recently updated decor. The staff bed over backwards to accommodate, and the location is close to historical sites. We can’t wait to return. "

"We had a great time at The Green Palm Inn! Nicole was a great hostess and cook and fed us a delicious breakfast each morning before we began our day exploring beautiful Savannah. "Yes. Breakfast was freshly made each morning. It was a specified menu for the day but they also had a small continental style offering to choose from if in a hurry. Room was very clean. Very tall ceilings and the room was spacious. Antique furnishings and decor made it feel cozy."

General William Tecumseh Sherman used this house as headquarters from Dec. 22, 1864, until Feb. 1, 1865. Charles Green offered the use of his home to General Sherman and his staff. Sherman's chaplain conducted the Christmas services in St. John's Church. The house was built for Green, a British subject residing in Savannah prior to 1854. The architect was John S. Norris of New York. The house is notable as one of the country's finest examples of residential Gothic Revival architecture, the detail of the interiors being as sumptuous as any to be found in America. Cost of the construction of this house in the 1850's totaled $93,000.
