"When we walked in, the lady at the front desk (Bonnie?) was very welcoming and helpful. The room was beautiful and clean. The pool and hot tub and gym were perfect for our family. I used the lovely office area to get some business done on one of the computers. Internet access was easy. "Great historic hotel and great price. Right in the center of Arcata Plaza - so lots of cute shopping and restaurants. The sushi place connected to the hotel was tasty. The room we had suited our needs and the bathroom had great water pressure. Our "view" faced the other rooms and part of the roof which was a bummer but we also didn't hear any of the street noise. "

"Checking in the owner gives you a tour and provides the history of the property and the area around the property. She is an excellent host. The rooms are clean and comfortable. If you like historic mansions this is an opportunity to stay the night on one. The owner is also looking to open a restaurant and I look forward to returning. "

"We enjoyed our stay at Carter House. The bartender made us mocktails because we didn’t want the options that they had. I was also able to charge our EV at no cost. Location is very convenient for Eureka."

"We did not plan ahead and needed a place to stay on the 4th of July. This gem of a propert had a room open at a decent price! The front desk staff had no customer service skills or information on the breakfast offered or pool. We were able to see the fireworks from our room which was a great suprise. The breakfast was horrible very few options and messy."
