"These cottages are the best! This is our 3rd stay and each time fully enjoyed ourselves. Perfect kitchenette has all you need for light meals. Refrigerator keeps drinks and food cold and ready to use. Bed is comfy and spacious with enough bedding to stay warm or cool as you need. Property manager communicated with us before and during stay to make sure all was good. Located near several good spots to eat and good place to get a nice walk in. We'll be back soon!"

Our host, Sarah was available to answer any questions and was also flexible with check in and check out. Add, the Avila Beach area location is/was a perfect travel balance for our day trips to Santa Barbara and San Simeon, in addition to exploring the Pismo / Avila areas. Our wonderful host, Ryan, made us feel right at home by introducing us to his very friendly and loving golden retrievers, Bourbon and Cider, his tortoise, Walter, and chickens on the property. "This home is absolutely beautiful, with a stunning view of the Rock. We really enjoyed the hot tub and appreciated how well-stocked the kitchen was, right down to the spices and essentials for cooking. I’ve stayed in several homes in the area over the years, and this was the nicest by far.The only note is that the 10 a.m. checkout felt a little early for us. When I inquired about a later checkout, there was an additional fee (175 for two hours), and the cleaning person arrived just before 10, so...

"OMGosh! What a gem Captain Java’s cottage is. Everything about my stay was pure perfection. How could it be anything but perfection when falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the ocean.
