Relax with family and friends at the Mediterranean castle located in  a quiet neighbourhood in Ladysmith, enjoying expansive ocean views and lush mountains on 1.3 acres with hot tub, barbecue, gazebo and gardens.

Not to forget the gourmet kitchen with a viking six burner stove and grill for preparing delicious family dinners.

A haven for outdoor fanatics with 3 hiking  and nature  trails off the property, a beach, kayaking  off transfer beach and boating as the boating ramp is located  at the government dock in Ladysmith making  fishing easy.
The Coast around Thethis island is well known for shrimp  and prawn fishing

Highway access makes it easy to travel anywhere on the island from Tofino to Victoria.

The luxurious, spacious custom built  Mediterranean villa consist of 7 bedrooms with 7 bath with Jacuzzi tub in master en suite, walk in closets, 4 living rooms with  dome ceiling  up to 18 feet high, chandeliers, custom curved stairs and railings, 5 fireplaces , media room with 86 inch smart TV, game room with snooker and ping pong table, balconies to enjoy the ocean view, Barbecue with outdoor eating area, gazebos, pond and a hot tub to relax in, 

Ideal for special occasions to celebrate such as small weddings and birthdays with prior approval. Small pet permitted with approval.

The host's communication was excellent. The house was very comfortable. With a house this size, the hot water takes a minute and showers need to be staggered, but overall my guests and I had a wonderful time.

Overall good stay. Lots of crumbs on floor of multimedia room, no warm water in upstairs bathroom despite running water 5-10 mins as instructed, likely an actual plumbing issue or dying hot water tank. Everything else was good and convenient and set up well. Also, dead rabbit carcass found in yard of property near hottub.

Our Review of Castle in the Sky

The property fit our needs for our large staff group. The view from the top of the hill is stunning. Good communications with the host. The house is quite dated and could use some attention. Large cracks in surface of upstairs entry area, signs not to go onto the upper balcony, overgrown plant in living room. Dining room chair pads need to be replaced.Showering was a challenge - little to no hot water. Too many "rules" - e.g. no food in the media room where people would normally eat snacks, yet it was ok to eat food on the white couches in the living rooms - didn't make sense. If this property was to under go some renovations / modernization, it would be an even better place to stay for large groups.

We had a wonderful 3 day birthday celebration. A chance for relatives and friends from across Canada to spend time together. It was a perfect venue.

Spacious, well appointed accommodations.

Overall we had a great stay, we enjoyed the trails that are right on the doorstep for hiking. When we arrived the house was freezing, it took a little to heat it up as it is such a big home. When it was warm it was so cosy and nice. The house was perfect for our large gathering, and it was clean and very well appointed. We had some issues with doors sticking and even a couple of our guests getting locked into their rooms. The master ensuite had no hot water despite running the water for 10 mins as was suggested, which was sad considering the luxurious tub and shower! There are a few cosmetic things that didn't bother us so much, like unfinished paintwork etc. And we had some issues with the dishwasher not wanting to run its cycle properly and not turning off. The owner is aware of the issues and is actively working to correct them. Like I said overall we had a great time and would recommend!

Best place in Ladysmith

This place is absolutely a gem. We were amazed by everything. Beautiful and fancy. Everything available. Like EVERYTHING. Check in was at 4 and we got there at 1 and the host let us in easily. She is the kindest host I’ve ever seen. The hot tub was amazing and so did the bbq. Many rooms and a huge media room. There was only one thing: We got a noise notice at 7 pm and also at 11 pm which was weird because we made absolutely no noise. The neighbours reported for no reason as if we are partying. The owner kindly came and saw that we are not partying so she left. I think this place is so nice that some neighbours are jealous. If you’re planning to party this place is not yours. We did not party and got a notice with absolutely no noise now imagine if you actually party. I give 5 starts legit though. I also left my lenses and she agreed to send them via post with the bare minimum charge. Such a kind person.

Beautiful and spacious

The home was lovely and spacious and perfect for large family games of hide and seek! We enjoyed our stay immensely, and would recommend it to others. As the property is a vacation rental, there has been some very hard wear and tear on the dwelling. There are some deficiencies that could be safety concerns if a child was not supervised.

Wonderful getaway spot for a ladies’ weekend

Our book club wanted to celebrate over 10 years of friendship with a weekend retreat. This was a wonderful location with beds for everyone and several great hikes nearby. Downtown Ladysmith was also a treat to check out. The open floor plan with the kitchen and living areas was perfect as we all took turns cooking and taking care of each other. All in all a wonderful weekend with memories made to last a lifetime!

We came to Duncan for a sports competition and this place suited us perfectly. This property has an incredible amount of space and the host is very accommodating, generous, and accessible.

Unsatisfactory

Prior to booking I asked the owner if the space would be private. We were a group of women coming together to release grief and enter into sacred healing time together. During a time of deep prayer and meditation we are interrupted by the cleaner telling us we were supposed to be gone, they had another booking coming. The interruption occurred while we were in deep prayer and meditation. This greatly tarnished our day. I told the cleaner we had rented the space for 2 nights but she was adamant that the owner said we needed to vacate for other guests. I asked her to call the owner and she did. Despite having the VRBO booking confirmation telling me I had it for another night, the owner went on about how this was a big problem for her. I showed the confirmation to the cleaner and went back inside. I had asked the owner if there would be privacy while we were at the space and was assured there would be. It was one of the major reasons I chose this property. I cannot imagine that there was no way for the ower to check, prior to interrupting us, to ensure the mistake was not hers. Further to that, the railings on the front of the house are in terrible shape and are dangerous. We blocked off the stairs so no one would use them. I hope no one who needs support climbing stairs comes to the house, they are in significant disrepair. Also, there was no hot water on the lower floor, not all jets in the hot tub are working and the water was dirty, and the owner advertises 10 beds, but that is untrue. There was a truck in the driveway that was unexpected and when I called the owner she said it could not be moved, guests would have to park on the street. Guests should not be expected to park on the street, the truck should have been moved. I wrote the owner with my concerns and asked if she would make some kind of offer to make this right. Her response was dismissive. She said there was no way to check prior to disturbing us. Does VRBO not send booking confirmations to owners? My concerns were not addressed. For example, despite her advertising the property had 10 beds (it doesn’t) I was told that I should have checked the listing as it states the number of bedrooms (which was not my concern). I was already told that I received a 50% discount on the property (most likely due to being off-season) so I guess when you give a discount, it is permissible to not live up to what you promise.

Perfect Family Stay

This is a beautiful home for our extended family staycation! it really is a Castle in the Sky as it sits above the hill with sweeping views of the Gulf Islands. We all enjoyed the large living space and open kitchen for us to be all together, as well as the theatre room for the younger ones. Each bedroom had its own bathroom was a major plus. Unfortunately with the rain we had during the stay, we were not able to check out the hot tub and fire pits in the yard. All in all, great location very close to Ladysmith Town Centre, had all we needed for our family gathering and great host, Moni, was very responsive when we needed to ask questions. Thank you!

Amazing House - Perfect for multi families!

The house is beautiful with lots of room for everyone to have their space, bathroom, etc. We really enjoyed the cinema room! We didn’t cook but the kitchen was well stocked, the beds were very comfortable, there were plenty of towels. Overall we throughly enjoyed it and it was the perfect place for our family to finally get together again since 2019.
