The good: the parking was free, the mattress was decent, the kitchen had all of the essentials and was pretty clean, the pool and jacuzzi were great for our 6 yr old.
The bad: location was on a highway so there was quite a bit of road noise (+ 3 sirens the first night), it sounded like a thunder storm every time someone opened their sliding door, the condo itself was outdated with clear remodeling but no attempt to cover (e.g. light fixture replaced but wall behind not smooth or patched), the beach was really close but not great as the waves were bigger and current strong so our 6 yr old could not swim, the water was not clear and the sand was coarse so we drove to other beaches that were nicer in those respects, wifi was very slow.
The ugly: we saw a cockroach several times in the bathroom, there was only one extra tp roll to last us 4 days so we had to buy some more, the towels had stains on them, the shower didn't drain well, and the management office where you check in smelled like pee.
Overall, not bad if you're on a budget and have a rental car to go to other beaches but def a solid 3 star property with zero frills. If you want a swimmable beach on your doorstep and don't have a rental car I would spend more for another spot. This is not a trendy place and there were mostly older folks there. We were not as impressed with Maui after having a magical time at the Big Island so if you haven't decided, go to there. And do not do the Road to Hana if you get car sick!
