We had to walk a long distance on foot, during which we encountered wild animals — an extremely unsafe situation. "The highlight of our stay was definitely the staff and the food. Special call out for the manager Sanjeev, who really went out of his way to make sure we’d have a great time. Beautiful rooms (though a bit noisy), very nice bedding, to be honest just beautiful all around. The food at breakfast was the best we had in Sri Lanka, and their curry … outstanding. So so so good, I went for it again the next day. I’d recommend the hotel without hesitation "

"A hidden gem! A beautiful, clean and comfortable cottage right in the middle of the forest, in the heart of nature. Lovely staff and service. They even arranged a last minute safari for me, which was worth it. The restaurant serves organic and fresh meals (veg only) and the view of the lake is spectacular! The host even took us for a walk around the areas and we saw some lovely birds. This place is worth every penny. Highly recommended. "

"We used the hotels as a base for a safari tour and it was an ideal base. The location is great, being a short walk (1500m) out of Tissa. Lake Wind Resort is a beautiful heritage building that has had life injected again by new management. The team could not have been more helpful and attentive. "This is a tiny gem, don't expect any luxuries but it is well worth a stay if you are in the Yala area for a safari. They go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and accomodate your every need. "The manager and staff were super nice which is really what made our stay. They went over and beyond to make us comfortable. The facilities are average but some of it does need an update as the A/C units are really loud and the curtains aren't in great condition. Also the Wi-Fi didn't work in the rooms and so to use Wi-Fi you need to go to the common area which in the evenings gets a TON of mosquitoes so that wasn't idea. But the pool was nice and landscaping was well-maintained. "
