"The hotel is a located inside a converted house. Everything looks very traditional, complete with low ceilings, sliding doors, mat covered floors and futons. The dorm slept four, which I though was tight, but it seems to work well enough that I slept quite well both nights. "The hospitality (service and meals) at Shiganoyu Hotel were amazing. While we did not speak Japanese and the staff did not speak English, they used a translation tool for conversation and didn't let that be a barrier. It was so comfortable for our family of 5 - very homey and welcoming. The tea and treat upon check-in was a nice surprise and delicious. The onsen was a relaxing bonus! "Great location, just couple steps from Yubatake hot springs, you can tell facilities are a bit old but well kept, big room, great staff, big buffete dinner, breakfast a bit short in options but good, safe area. It is a natural onsen town so expect its particular smell at all time, inside hotel they do a good job isolating it but still keep that in mind. Onsen is awesome, by gender, traditional dress code (no clothes), 3 hot tubs at different temps and outdoor pool."
