"If you are looking for a cheaper place to sleep and you are by yourself I think it’s ok! I stayed with my boyfriend and thought there was zero privacy. Walls were paper thin right next to some other rooms that had dogs barking. The bed made a very loud noise every time we moved to side. For hot water we had to keep the water very low and when my bf took a shower the water got cold. but again if you want to stay close to the volcano and want something cheap there are not too many options there...

"Just like camping. Carpet had not been vacuumed. There was one light and one outlet that could only be used for charging devices. No hair dryer or curling iron use. Two towels, no hand towels or wash cloths. Bathroom sink was only plumbed for cold water. Shower liner was peeling and there was no bathroom light. Common area was not clean. "

"This is a guest house beside the owner's place. The room was clean and spacious and the weather at the end of March was so comfortable that we didn't have to switch on the AC at night. However, it did get very hot in the day so we opened the windows to let the hot air out. Also, a few very cute and friendly cats also live on the property. Loved the place!"

Major concern: No window coverings for the floor-to-ceiling bathtub window or windows above the bed and coffee bar, resulting in serious privacy issues while bathing and sleeping. "Pros: I liked the location. There was easy access to Puna, Volcano NP, and Hilo. The owner gave me a 5 minute spiel on the property. Everything was in working order. Cons: I stayed at 4 different VRBO properties during my stay on the Big Island. All property owners except this one provided directions, check in instructions and check out instructions. You won't get that. And the directions are not intuitive at all. So I will do the property owner's job for him and hopefully save you frustration...

"This place is such a beautiful oasis. So quiet and peaceful. The grounds are beautiful to walk around (bee hives, flowers, mini garden, some animals) and there is a gorgeous view of the water. It's easy to get to town and Jacklynn is a wonderful host. We also had amazing massages with a wonderful therapist named Christine at the massage shala. Highly recommend! "
