We stayed at Kuilima Ocean Hideaway for 10 days. Overall, we had a great stay. The unit was equipped with everything we needed for our stay. There were beach towels, beach chairs, boogie boards, and a large cooler. The unit was spacious and had plenty of space for our family of five. The washer and dryer was brand new and worked well. The AC units were window units in the bedrooms. They kept the bedrooms nice and cool. The loft area and living room would get warm in the afternoon. The location was perfect for those exploring the North Shore. We were close to the beautiful North Shore beaches. Haleiwa was a 20-30 minute drive depending on traffic. The Polynesian Cultural Center and town of Lake was a 15 minute drive. Honolulu was a 45-60 minute drive. Although the unit was older and needed a few upgrades, we would definitely stay again when visiting Oahu.

Enjoyable stay in Kawela Bay!

We enjoyed our stay at the Kawela Bay property. It was the perfect size for our family! We ventured into the North Shore and enjoyed ziplining at Kualoa Ranch and this location was centrally located for these outings!

property needs work

location was great, however the bedroom downstairs smelled like urine so much that i couldn’t sleep in that room and had to sleep outside in the living room. we saw several ants and two giant cockroaches in the house. also the provided snorkels didn’t work

Do not stay at this rental

The townhouse is in disrepair and full of cockroaches, ants and centipedes. Furniture and rugs are falling apart and dirty. Appliances are rusty. Front screen door about ready to fall off. Paint peeling. Do not rent this place. It needs a complete renovation.

Property condition not quite as shown

Overall: Layout is exactly as shown in pics, but the unit and much of the furnishings/appliances are more run-down than the pics show. Prior to traveling, prompt/accurate communication from the owners. Only glitch upon arrival was security did not answer at the gate - Another resident key-fobbed us in. No further trouble the rest of the week. The main upstairs bedroom: comfortable mattress, sufficient space/storage for our things. Could not get TV to work, didn't investigate why and went without. Upstairs bathroom was good. But, both towel bars fell off on day 1. I had to run to a store for a small screwdriver so I could tighten the set screws so that we could use the towel bars for the week. Time/money I did not anticipate spending. The washer/dryer combo upstairs: Relatively new and worked well - except the dryer is NOT vented to the outside. Thus, all the hot moist air from the dryer is vented below the unit onto the floor, creating a slippery condition at the top of the stairs, and put much unwanted humidity back into the condo. The Kitchen: Cabinets are much more worn than pictures show. Fridge works, but is rusty, particularly inside the freezer. DW works, but is also quite worn/rusty. Lower BR: Poor mattress with a large urine stain. Family members had difficulty sleeping on this mattress. Living area: Floors, particularly the living space rug, were not as clean as pics show. Great location, but wished we'd have stayed elsewhere.

Quiet retreat for families

We all enjoyed a much-needed quiet vacation at this well-appointed condo.The layout was perfect for the five of us. The kitchen had everything that we needed, the beds were comfortable, the pool ws immaculate and the grounds were beautifully kept. My daughter enjoyed her morning runs, and we all appreciated the short walk to the beach.There was a missing screen on the upstairs bedroom sliding door, but the window let in fresh air, and the AC worked wonderfully.
