Located in the heart of Amelia Island. Candice Cove historic vacation rental property is a dream location. Spectacular Oceanfront views vacation home is a home away from home. It is the perfect place for a family getaway, celebration, honeymoon, anniversary, family reunion, corporate team event and small group retreat. Book and the enjoy the beautiful ocean, dolphins, pelicans, sea turtles, wales, breezes, peace and relaxation.

Candice Cove is one of the Historic homes on American Beach Oceanfront. American Beach is a historic HOA beach community located north of Jacksonville, Florida on Amelia Island in Nassau County. During the time of segregation and the Jim Crow era, African Americans were not allowed to swim at most of beaches in Jacksonville, and several black-only areas were created. American Beach was the largest and most popular, and was a community established by Abraham Lincoln Lewis, Florida’s first black millionaire and president of the Afro-American Life Insurance Company.

American Beach was founded in 1935 by Florida’s first black millionaire, Abraham Lincoln Lewis, and his Afro-American Life Insurance Company. The plan was for his employees to have a place to vacation and own homes for their families by the shore. Throughout the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s, summers at American Beach were busy with families, churches and children. It was a place where African Americans could enjoy “Recreation and Relaxation Without Humiliation”. The beach included hotels, restaurants, and nightclubs as well as homes and other businesses.

This is the fist time a VRBO property has not met my expectations. I am very surprised by all of the glowing reviews. On arrival, we found a bucket of dirty mop water in the kitchen, a bottle of vodka in one of the kitchen cabinets, roach spray sitting on the downstairs bar along with a box of mostly empty liquor bottles and several bunched up blue tarps. The screen on the door was hanging mostly off, and there were random wood boards scattered across the floor. There was also trash left in the downstairs trash cans. We had to wear shoes inside at all times due to sand burs embedded in the carpets and bath mats. The "fully equipped kitchen" does NOT include a DISHWASHER!While Oceanfront, you can only see a tiny scrap of ocean due to a high sand dune, and the public beach access is directly next to the back porch. Everyone walking to the beach can look directly at you while you sit out there. There is NO fire alarm, and no venting in the bathrooms or the kitchen. The adorable glass kitchen table shown in the listing has been replaced by a cheap plastic table with a plastic table cloth. I want to be clear we have not asked for a refund, we checked in and out on time, and followed all house rules. I did speak to the owner at check in and he apologized for a few of the conditions. I messaged him after the extent of the issues became clear. He has not responded to my message. Also, the tv speakers downstairs do not work.

Perfect home for family. The outdoor space is wonderful especially for little ones. Location- about 50 steps to the beach! Located close to anything you need but feels secluded.Home has everything you need for a great trip.It is easy to be a host when everything is going well, we experienced a power outage due to weather and Anthony responsiveness was wonderful. Made sure we new where emergency lanterns were etc and kept us updated with Neil power restored.

Best beach house we’ve ever rented

We absolutely adored this house and our stay. Even though we couldn’t see the water, we could hear it. The walk to the was a perfect distance and we really appreciated the outdoor shower. We were looking forward to using the bar seating under the house, but it was under construction, however we all enjoyed the seating under the house and watched movies. It rained every evening we were there, however, it was not a problem. We were 100% impressed by how well the house was stocked with toilet paper, paper towels, and bath towels - we have rented homes on the beach for many many years and never once has a home been stocked. We absolutely appreciated it. There were abundant pillows on the beds as well, all were so comfortable. The kitchen was quaint and well stocked also with pots/pans/pitchers/silverware. When we first walked in, we were welcomed with beach music from the TV’s. (Nice touch)Thank you so much for sharing your home. I hope we can stay again in the near future!!!

Candice Cove was a cute little beach house. Well furnished and clean, it was a great spot just a stones throw away from the beach, although due to a sand dune, we could not see the water directly. The house came with everything we could need for our three night stay, everything down to pots and pans for cooking, and two nifty outdoor showers to rinse off all the sand before coming inside. Beach towels were also provided in the laundry room downstairs. A/C was ice cold and the beds were pretty comfortable, albeit a little too squishy for some of the guests in my party. The home was easy to navigate for someone who is visually impaired . The weather was wonderful, and it made hanging out on the deck in the rocking chairs made embracing the oudoors very enjoyable, Also, the WIFI was super fast and smooth, great for gaming (like me).The downstairs had a seating area with lots of places to sit and a television mounted on the wall. However, there was still some construction of a bar being done, so we avoided that area. Overall, we really enjoyed this little cottage by the sea, and felt relaxed and rejuvenated after our stay.

Family Beach Vacation

We absolutely love this place—it's our little slice of paradise! We've stayed here multiple times, and each visit has been just as wonderful as the last. The home is beautifully maintained, cozy, and incredibly welcoming. Everything was perfect, and we’re so thankful for the chance to stay here again. Already looking forward to our next visit!

Awesome Location

This is our family's third time staying at Candice Cove, and we've already booked it again for next year. That should tell you how much we love staying here. The house is in a terrific location. The beach is wide and is at the end of the area where you can drive on the beach. Therefore it tends to be a little quieter (especially during the weekdays) and safer if you bring little ones with you who might be oblivious to vehicles driving around. Anthony, the owner, is extremely responsive and provides everything you could possibly need for your stay. The fact that the property takes dogs is a bonus, and there is ample area to walk them. The property is also very clean. Overall, this property is a winner!

Great location

Great beachfront property that is very close to everything! Very near to grocery store, gas station/convenience store, shops, and 18 mins drive to historic downtown! The kitchen is a bit small but it worked for us! We wished there was a dishwasher. But other than that, they have all the kitchen stuff you may need! There was some construction in the basement but it was put away and safe with our kids around. The kids LOVED the outdoor shower! Overall a wonderful and fun stay!

Great Location

First of all the property was very clean upon arrival. The house is an older house but it is nice, it is a historic local house from years ago. Very close to the beach with just a short walk and very nice back porch and sitting area down below. You could not ask for a better owner in Anthony, he is super nice and responded quickly to questions or concerns. I would recommend anyone to stay here and I would definitely return.

First Beach Trip this year May 3 2025

Overall everything was nice. Not far to the beach. Very private. Everything was well stocked. Host was very courteous and easy to get in touch with if you had a question. There was still damage from the hurricane to the lower inside, but it is under construction as I speak. We had a lovely time and beautiful weather. I would definitely recommend this cottage. Hated to leave.

Great beach house

Stayed at Candice Cove for a week and thoroughly enjoyed this little cottage. The location is perfect and the house is fully equipped with everything you would want for a beach vacation. The laundry facilities were not available due to previous storm damage, and it would have been nice to have a dishwasher in the kitchen, but that didn't damper the wonderful time we had. Anthony was extremely prompt with his responses and very cordial. There's plenty of outdoor space on the lower level and many seating options for all. The outside shower was perfect. All three bedrooms were furnished beautifully and the living room was comfortable and spacious. We really enjoyed the back deck and hung out there after a relaxing day on the beach. I would definitely recommend Candice Cove for fellow beach lovers.

Beach Getaway

What a gem of a place! Perfect location, easy to find, within 20 mins of downtown to go shopping at cute stores and enjoy great food at local restaurants. We explored multiple trails and enjoyed the beach. Lots of bike paths are available. Locals are friendly! The owner is attentive and helped quickly when the front door lock had issues. Also, hurricanes came through and they are repairing the bar area so the outside downstairs area was closed. But that was ok with us. Great place and we recommend for anyone wanting a cozy place on the beach.

American Beach

If you are looking for a modern high rise with granite counters and stainless steel appliances, this place isnt for you. But, if you want a quaint, clean beach bungalow steps from the ocean, lots of outdoor seating spaces, and a very responsive host then this is(Anthony), then this is the place you want.

Worst VRBO Ever

Candice Cove is the worst Vrbo rental we have ever encountered! The Host contacted us just hours before we were to arrive to let us know Half the house was under construction due to storm damage!!! We didn’t have time to find another place!!! The house was full of mold!!! Dirty! Sheets smelled !! The house was uneven and the floors sagged! Couldn’t use the whole downstairs or the outside courtyard! Trash was thrown on both sides of home and huge construction was going on in front of property. We left on the 3rd day! Host only refunded us 300.00 when we requested a full refund! I will be informing VRBO! He could have notified us in November that the house was damaged.. but waited until hours before arriving!

Our family of four enjoyed a relaxing time over New Years. Great to be just steps from the beach. The downstairs area of the property was not open during our stay.
