"Although the owner was good with communication this property is VERY OLD. They did have a fire going when we got there but it really only heats up the area its in. The rest of the house is very cold, and only a couple electric heaters that do not keep up. The beds slept good and the bedding was clean, but the rest of the house (floors, shelves, ect..) where very dirty."

"This was in the middle of the Redwood National and State Forest. We explored so many awesome trails. It is remote, so if you are looking for finer food and beer, you have to be willing to drive 20 minutes north to Crescent City. This was a perfect base camp for us."

"If you like to be off the grid, this is a great place to stay. We do this once a year and completely unplug from phones, computers, etc. This place was perfect for exactly that. It's remote and there's nothing better than the sound of a river. We had a total of 4 adults, 3 kids, and our 2 labs. Everyone had a wonderful time. It's a little bit of a walk to the river but once there, it's secluded and water is crystal clear. Thank you, Jim, for allowing us to stay at your place. "

"The Hobbit House was a wonderful find! It felt like somebody took time in each room to make it like they would want it if they stayed there. Quiet location. Parking right at the door. Central a/c. The hosts are great people who communicated well. We look forward to staying here again. Highly recommend! "

"Things I wish I knew: (1) how far the hike was between the parking lot and greenhouse. I was exhausted by the drive only to find I had to haul my stuff up a steep incline. I would have prepared differently. (2) how you define a bathroom - I didn’t need much but again, I would have planned differently if I had know what you offered. 3) how bad the roads and bridge were - I don’t mind an adventure but had there been a place to turn around I would have done so and slept in my car. "Little misguiding saying two bdrms. There are two beds in one room and a blow up mattress for the living\kitchen area. But overall a great place to stay, wish we had a little more time in the area."

"Very Spacious and quiet. The interior is quite beautiful. Very close from all 3 Redwood state parks and next to the Klamath River. It’s inside a bitten down RV park, so exterior is okay. The RV park hostess is very friendly and helpful. If you are using Virbo or Expedia to book this, make sure you save the details somewhere locally in your phone as the area has no cellphone signal. "

"We had a wonderful time at this property while visiting the Redwood National and State parks. Our family included two seniors, parents and children of all ages. This home provided a home away from home with the VERY spacious interior that included comfortable beds and 4 bathrooms. "After hiking all day amongst the redwoods of NorCal we would return to the home to rest and relax to get ready for the next days hike. Sitting out on the back deck right by the river was especially nice. We had a great time. "

"Such a beautiful home a stones throw away from the famous Jedediah smith redwoods state park. Plenty of room for 3 couples plus nice kitchen supplies. The bedding was lovely and plenty of extra blankets and pillows. The views were spectacular and excellent communication getting in and out. 5 stars all around!!"

"This place was absolutely perfect for a getaway into the state and national redwood parks! The state park ended up being our favorite. My husband fished the river a short walk from the property and we spent a lot of time enjoying the patio area after a long day of hiking."

"Such an amazing location- so close to Jedediah Smith. The house was cozy and incredibly clean. Beds were very comfortable. Easy river access! Loved listening to birds and the river drinking our coffee in AM. Nikki was such a great host- quick and responsive. Perfect stay for our family (kids 5 and 7). Would absolutely stay again! "
