no communication with host
The worst experience we have ever had with communication with a host at VRBO. First we booked with VRBO for four nights. Only to find out the next day the Host has rented to someone else and did not put it on the VRBO schedule.
She did apologize and we decided to go to a hotel for the first two nights and then go to her place for the last 2 nights. The day that we were supposed to check in we had not received information from the host (Jewel) for directions, address or lock box number. After calling VRBO and waiting for an hour to talk to someone at we were told that if we did not hear from her by check in time then we could not get a refund. This was very frustrating as we had a reservation that evening and needed to make sure we had a place to stay.
Finally I looked back on the one of the e mails the host had sent to confirm our 2 night stay and her address was on the bottom of the page so my husband and I drove over to see if we could talk with her. She did come to the door and gave all kinds of unreasonable answers why she had not gotten in touch. One excuse after another. We did end up staying there because we did not have much choice, or we would have lost our money per VRBO. It cost us a day of frustration and lost a day for a hiking trip. She offered us a free night which she knew we had only four days we could be away due caring for a aging parent. We were so looking forward to a restful peaceful time away. By the way the free night she offered was already booked!
